Description

Up for auction is a clean, two owner, 100% rust free 1979 Ford F-250 4x4 Extended cab Camper Special. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find one of these trucks that has not been beat or rusted into submission or over-restored.This 1979 is just that truck! Two owner, new paint, rebuilt motor never abused, nice driver!

The F250 was sold new at Jim Burke Ford in Bakersfield, California to Marvin and Jane Gilreath. The Gilreath’s sold the truck two years later to a local aircraft mechanic who owned the truck until 2015 when I purchased it from him.The truck has spent its entire life in sunny southern California and still sports the original California “blue plates” it received when sold new! Also included with the truck is the original owner’s manual, build sheet, warranty card and warranty brochures!

The interior on this 1979 Ford has been redone and looks great!Carpet is new, seat is new, and nice headline, door panels and dash. The actual dash pad does have the typical linear cracks (5) but is still very presentable and not absolutely destroyed.

As mentioned this truck is RUST FREE with new, nice paint!I have included one photo of the truck prior to the repaint to show the straight/rust free body and original paint (the photos of the VIN Plate and ID tag were also taken before the repaint). The repaint is about 2 months old and was done in the trucks original brown color.Everything was removed with the exception of the extra cab windows and the windshield prior to painting. All window felts and seals, with the exception of the wing window seals (they are in great shape) were replaced. The repaint is not concourse but will definitely get everyone’s attention at cruise night or just out on a Sunday drive.

The trim, bumpers and moldings are straight, great finish with only minor dings. The worst areas being a couple spots on the grill surround, a small tweak in the front bumper and several dings in the upper trim on the tailgate (right around the tailgate handle).

Mechanically the truck is solid! The 400 has been rebuilt, runs strong and is equipped stainless single exhaust from front to back. The automatic trans. shifts great with no bangs or pops when being put into or shifting gears. The truck shifts in and out of 4 wheel drive like butter with no noises from the transfer case. There are no leaks slobbers or dribbles at all from this truck!Brakes feel good, steering is nice!Tires have about 50% of tread left but are showing signs of weather cracking.

As far as accessories, the truck came from the factory with a sliding rear window (now has a solid window), tool stowage box, tilt wheel, slide-out tire carrier, cruise control (still functioning today!), A/C ( previous owner state it works but I did not hook anything up - all equipment in place, compressor is free but belt is not installed), super cooling package, and dual tanks.

The following parts will be included with the truck-

1)Original slider window

2)Chrome front and rear differential covers

3)Factory AM/FM radio

4)Original heavy duty radiator

5)Spare 16.5 tire on matching wheel

I have owned and currently do have several of these trucks. This 1979 is one of the most honest, original, unmolested or abused truck I have had in a long time. And equipped with air, tilt, and cruise!I guess in 1979 it would have qualified as a “Cowboy Cadillac”!

If you are in the market for a 1979 Ford F-250 extended this is one to be considered! Perfect to drive daily and get plenty of attention or take it to the next level with a nice 2” lift making it into a real show stopper! Please feel free to contact Dean at 661-703-8402 with any questions and HAPPY BIDDING!
