1994 Geo Metro black 2 door
Description
Although the engine is in great shape for its age and runs very good, there are some serious issues the buyer must know.
-Neither side door handles work. I have a replacement for the passenger, but it isn't installed. The driver's side needs more than just the handle. There is missing linkage.-There is parasitic draw to the battery. I have installed a screw-type disconnection device at the battery, which I can reach without opening the hood (thanks to the deer damage). I simply disconnect after every drive.-There is some difficulty downshifting to 2nd gear. Not sure why, but I usually end up going from 3rd to 1st and back up to 2nd when I need 2nd. No issues going up.-Windshield is cracked-One of the turn signal lights are out (deer damage)-Radio doesn't work
Some background. I bought the vehicle in Colorado back in 2007. It had 89k miles on it at the time. It had the check engine light on at the time and I knew why. It was the old clogged egr issue, which I was able to immediately fix and avoid the usual damage that results from neglect of this. I also changed the timing belt at the time and have done and maintained a maintenance log since including tire rotations and oil/air filter changes.
In 2008/9 It spent a few months in Peoria IL, where I put marine grease on the control arm areas where rust is prone. I do believe that was effective prevention as the pictures show. Since then it has been here in the Atlanta area. Not having a/c, it eventually became unbearable for much of the year and I now do not drive it much at all.
The tires are young (probably around only 5k miles). I routinely got 50+ miles per gallon when I tried to. Back when gas was $4/gallon it was worth being delicate with the gas pedal.
Cash only.
