Description

UP FOR SALE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE FASTEST STREETABLE TRUCKS AROUND!!!
Dyno sheets in hand will give proof to what this little truck is capable of. Although I never drag raced it, I would assume its a 10 second truck.
Highly modified although it has a stock "sleeper" appearance and will leave a lot of people with their high end sports cars in tears when they are spanked by this little black truck!
1991 GMC Syclone 4.3 AWD Turbo 81k original miles. One of 2995 built. Gm built these one year only and which ever ones survived have finally reached antique status.
This truck was originally sold in Golden Colorado and made its way around from Montan, Cali, and Idaho. I purchased it thru Ebay in 2005 and had it shipped to NJ. It has been Garage kept for the 11 years I have owned it and it never even saw rain. It had a few mods when I got it but I did A LOT more.
Starting with the engine. I had Campbell Automotive in Canada build a fresh engine since they specialize in these trucks. $20,000 invested into the engine and performance goodies leaves me with too much too list but here are the highlights......
Engine block machined for 4 bolt main bearing, block fill added for strength, decked, squared, and balanced. Vortec heads fully ported with complete valve job.(Manley valves (1.6 ex & 2.05 intake) All ARP studs (mains, heads and rockers) Eagle H-beam rods, Forged Turbo pistons, Cam and all valve train components by Comp Cams. High volume oil pump and Edelbrock high volume waterpump.
PT67 ball bearing Turbo with Turbonetics evolution wastegate. Big Air to air intercooler by RPM.
Methanol injected with Alky controller. RPM headers with 3" downpipe and full 3"exhaust thru a flowmaster. MSD Distributor and Coil 75# injectors and walbro fuel pump. BIG STUFF 3 Controller took the place of the stock ECM. The Big Stuff is fully tune-able with your lap top and controls the 4L80E trans that is now backed up to this powerhouse.
The 700R4 that these trucks had was a joke. Trans was originally out of a 2003 silverado HD After $6000 invested in the trans from George Blake at Prime gears the trans now lives happily in the syclone and will withstand more horsepower then the current build will throw at it.
Its using a gibert HD front propshaf, the Rear prop was shortened to accept the 4L80E and the best U-joints were installed. The front and rear Diffs and T-case remain stock and seem to hold up well on theses trucks from what I have read. The rear diff is limited slip from the factory and I added a Trick-flow Differential support cover to give it some added strength.
In the rear I'm using Cal-trac bars which are fully adjustable and allow the truck to hook up perfectly with no wheel hop.
The front brakes were converted over to F-body Style dual piston calipers and rotor diameter increased to 12". The vacuum booster was eliminated because that style booster is useless if you want to hold this thing back and spool up at the line. Using a Hydobooster which runs off power steering holds it back at the line and stops the truck on a dime as well. The ABS and A/C were removed to eliminate weight and clutter in the engine compartment. The Battery lives in the bed of the truck in a Taylor battery box. 4 Goodyear eagle F-1 supercars tires have about a 1000 miles on them.
The exterior of the truck was repainted about ten years ago just to freshin it up. The cladding which always looks like crap on these trucks was painted at the same time and is much easier to maintain now. A 2" cowl induction hood was installed too and is the only thing on this truck that sets it aside from looking bone stock. In the bed (that was never used) is spray on truck bed liner and its covered up by a Truxedo bed cover.
The Interior is mainly stock except for the white face gauges and the killer sound system! Its an older Eclipse sound system with Alpine amps and JL speakers but trust me, you won't be disappointed. It will shake the mirrors while still sounding crystal clear. Boost and exhaust temp gauge's mounted on A pillar. The headliner is sagging and will need to be re-glued or replaced. They are still available thru LMC truck.
I have also noticed smoke on decel when I look in the mirror after a boost event. I don't know if its just the excess un-burned fuel and methanol blowing out after the throttle snaps closed or whatever but it has done it from day one since the Campbell engine was installed. In my opinion the stock vortec valve covers don't allow the crankcase to breath properly and wanted to upgrade them but never seemed to get around to it.
I have a stack of paperwork and receipts and I have over 40K in this truck but its time to part ways. In life you cant keep every toy, I tend to enjoy them for a while and pass them on. It is currently not registered or insured. I took it off the road almost 2 years ago when I got 9 points on my licence with this little beast and with that I need to lay low for a while.
Please serious inquirer's only. Best time to show this truck is nights or weekends. Clean title in hand. Thanks for looking and reading! Cheers!

Just to clarify what appears to be a scratch in pic # 10 of bedside is just an error in the lens of camera. It was probably just some debris falling off tree when picture was taken. Finish on truck is probably 8 out of 10 with only minor stone chips and minor blemishes.
