1979 GMC Winchester 2500 4X4
Description
1979 GMC HD 2500 4X4 Camper Special 8400GVW. This truck was a nice rust free 56,000 mile truck when it was restored in the late 80's by the Winchester Truck Company in Ritzville WA. Winchester specialized in frame off high quality restorations of 70's to early 80's GM trucks, blazers and suburbans and although they went out of business in the 90's they are still highly regarded as a top quality restorer of GM trucks. Farmers and discerning truck owners had Winchester restore their vehicle and proudly drove them instead of buying new trucks. I am the second owner who bought mine with 65,000 miles from the estate of an elderly man who loved this truck so much he had Winchester restore it same as new for him. I drove this as my daily driver for the first two years putting about 20,000 miles on it; but since then it mostly sits in clean dry storage and only gets driven now and then.
Some pictures show the truck with polished aluminum wheels (that are also included in the sale with BFG LT tires) and most pics show stock steel white wheels with stainless GMC caps with 4 new 2017 LT truck tires. In addition, truck comes with the chrome grille plus a stock GMC plastic grille. This is a great truck that still drives solid without rattles and is very reliable. Thumbs up ever time I take it out, but after owning it for 25 years and not using it much maybe its time for a new home.
Original Mileage is 96,350 PS, AC, tilt wheel, cruise control, Two factory fuel tanks, Two stainless factory towing mirrors, 1 ton CS power brakes and 1 ton CS suspension, HD CS cooling system, updated interior two years ago, factory build sheet under front seat. Black spray in bed liner was added in the late 90's due to two small rust repairs in the rear floor mounting bolt area of the bed. Other than these small bed repairs the rest of the vehicle does not show rust anywhere. Two years ago single exhaust system was replaced and due to no longer requiring emissions the catalytic converter was eliminated.
Two years ago I had a dealer of collector vehicles at a local car show drive the truck, closely look under and over the entire vehicle, and he said due to the exceptional overall condition plus the Winchester heritage the value was $25,000 less any repairs, detailing, advertising, plus his 10% fee.
While every effort has been made to describe this truck as accurately as possible, it is in fact a 38-year-old classic, and is sold as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. This is not a new, perfect, or flawless vehicle; it is a restored classic that has been driven and should be expected to have flaws associated with a vehicle of this age and mileage. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs and I do not need help selling thank you. Please send me your phone # and I will call you back to help answer your questions.
