1959 GMC 100 LONG BED PICKUP 4 SPEED COLORADO TRUCK IN PA
Description
1959 GMC S SERIES 1/2 TON LONG BED SURVIVOR
You are bidding on a practically rust/rot free running 60 year old truck on the east coast. This truck spent all of it's life in Colorado until about 3 years ago. Remnants of the Colorado dealer sticker still show on the tailgate. Since then it has been garage kept or under a carport. The truck is equipped with an inline 6 cyl. Chevy 235 engine and a factory GM Muncie SM420 4 speed transmission with granny gear. What's nice is this trans will marry to any 55-67 GM bellhousing (Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Olds) so V8ing it should be no problem. The Rochester B carb has just been rebuilt and the motor has new AC/Delco plugs. The rear is a 12 bolt (I believe Spicer 45). 123 1/4" wheel base. The body floors and frame are incredibly clean and rust free. Cab steps and rockers are rock solid. No mud above headlights. All the body mounts are solid and clean. The cab corners had been repaired at some point and need attention. The original wood bed floor is bad and has been covered with plywood. This is a super cool patina painted truck to run as is or an awesome solid start for whatever you want. The original visor is still present!
I took this truck on a trade for a Harley. It had sat in a garage for the past year and of course wouldn't start. I was told up until then it was registered and driven and made an interstate road trip just before being parked. The latest inspection sticker is 4/2017. I freshened up the battery, rebuilt the carb and changed the plugs and it fired right up. The motor is quiet and doesn't smoke. I moved it around and the clutch and trans feel fine. Headlights, tail lights, brake lights, horn, wipers, heater and defrost all work. Turn signals do not. The dash has not been butchered and all lights up.The fuel gauge even works. The door locks work and it has a locking gas cap. The truck has 5 new 235/75R15 Coker Classic wide white wall tires on nicely painted wheels. All glass is good except the passenger window is cracked. The truck does have dents and dings from over the years, some old work at the bottom of the right door and front fender, a patch on the front of the left rear fender and no doubt a leak or two. It is not perfect but has a ton of character. Yes, the logos on the doors and hood have to go. You will need to trailer the vehicle home. The brake pedal is soft but does pump up, the parking brake does work but the r/rear cable needs to be removed and lubed. It hangs up intermittently. Also the timing needs to be dialed in. I hope I haven't missed anything so again, IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, ASK BEFORE BIDDING. Serious bidders are welcome to inspect the truck before bidding.
