Description

Up for sale is an extremely nice and unique 1985 GMC K1500 Sierra 4WD Stepside pickup, which has been totally refurbished and is ready to go.
So, I was sick of seeing black, white and red Chevy fleetside pickups. Everyone has them. I like different. This truck I bought last fall and we went totally through it over the past few months. I bought it because it was an A/C, P/W and P/L truck that had an extremely clean cab and frame. It also had a rebuilt Jasper 350 engine in it with only 25000 miles on it, according to the seller.
We completely disassembled the truck and started from the bottom up. The frame was blasted and painted with Chassis Saver, a product which provides an air dry, ceramic type coating for premium protection against rust. We then put a small patch in the passenger side cab corner and another small patch in the drivers rocker panel. That was the only metal work needed. I included a picture of the cab when it was disassembled so you can see the original floors were spotless.
The truck was bodyworked, sealed in epoxy from PPG, primed and blocked twice and then painted in base coat/clear coat from BASF - Diamont. The color, while looking custom, is actually a 2006 JEEP color called Rescue Green, so it is easily matched if the need ever arises. The color gets compliments everywhere I go with it. It has a lot of pearl flake in it, which show the curves well.
The body was all sprayed in pieces so there are no tape lines in the jambs and no overspray where it shouldn't be.
The stepside fenders are brand new, because the ones I had were rough. The truck originally had a fleetside bed on it, but I wanted to do a stepside. The tailgate is also a brand new reproduction. It's expensive to get the one with the GMC logo in it! The wood floor is pine, all stained and clearcoated. It came from Mar-K Industries. The bed hardware and hold down strips are all stainless.
In the cab I ended up replacing all the interior. It was red originally, so to switch it to tan meant I bought everything brand new from LMC (about $3k). I put a vinyl floormat in it, simply because a 4WD truck is no place to have carpet! LOL The dash pad is brand new and so is the ABS backed headliner. The seat has new foam and new upholstery. The power window motors are new as well as all the switches. The back sliding tinted window is brand new. The wire harness was changed, because the original one had been hacked up long ago. There is no radio, so the buyer can choose their own.
Under the hood, the engine now runs very well. We installed a brand new Holley 600 CFM electric choke carburetor and a new HEI GM distributor. Plugs and wires are new. Fuel and water pumps are new. A/C compressor, drier and filter are all brand new and fully operational. Radiator is brand new and so are the belts. The engine runs perfectly. It is equipped with headers and new dual exhaust with turbo mufflers. The gas tank has a new sender unit in it and all the hoses and lines are new. We dressed the engine up with a finned aluminum set of valve covers and matching air cleaner from Holley. The engine does indeed have a plaque on the side, denoting it was a reman crate engine from Jasper, so I assume the mileage quoted to me from the guy I bought it from is correct.
The transmission ended up being toast, so last week I had it completely rebuilt by the local transmission shop in town that does all my work. It is a 700R4 4 speed overdrive transmission that now works perfectly.
We installed a 4" lift kit, some new steering linkage parts and extended braided brake lines. The master cylinder is also brand new. Brakes are also new all the way around.
Front and rear bumpers are brand new. Taillights and side markers are all brand new. Grille is brand new. Hood is a brand new 2" steel cowl type from Goodmark. Both inner front fenders are brand new. Door handles and lock cylinders are brand new. Weatherstrips are all brand new all the way around.
Tires are brand new 35x12.50x15 on brand new chrome wagon wheels.
There is pretty much nothing on this truck that has not been replaced, repaired or cleaned and tested. It is 100% ready to go. I have restored several of these trucks and other vehicles over the years, so they are very familiar to us and I have all the equipment necessary to do an extremely nice job on them.
This truck feels familiar but different enough to get a ton of compliments and probably a trophy or two, if you are into that. It is THAT nice.
It comes with a clear KY title in my name.
Truck is sold in the AS IS condition with no warranty whatsoever.
$250 deposit at close of auction, balance due on pick up, which is expected within 7 days. If you need more time, let me know.
I reserve the right to cancel this auction at anytime before it meets the reserve price for a local sale. I have it listed here on my lot and other places.
I am not looking for any trades.
It will be final detailed and have a wheel alignment done before the buyer picks it up. I am currently driving it when the roads are clear. It runs and drives well.
