Description

The time has come again to thin the herd and I am selling my 1994 GMC Step Side Truck. I purchased this truck in Kentucky in 2014. The owner before me had the truck for two years and purchased it from the previous owner who got it from his best friend in 2005. On that basis, I am familiar with the truck's specifics back to 2005. The man who I bought this truck from told me that he has built several of these trucks and tried to buy this one for over 6 months before he was able to convince the previous owner to let go of it.

This truck is one of the nicest and cleanest trucks that I have ever seen. It runs and drives flawlessly and I have driven it on trips of over 200 miles without issue. It is hard to believe how well this truck drives on the open road at highway speeds. It is a smooth and comfortable ride with little outside noise. I have put about 3000 miles on it in 5 years. I have at times, driven the truck on a daily basis. I would also emphasize that it is in a condition that it can be taken to any cruise-in or car show.

The specifics that I am aware of are as follows: the TBI 350 crate motor currently in the truck was purchased from Bill Heard Chevrolet in Huntsville Alabama in January of 2006. The install work was done by Corvettes Plus in Whitesburg, Tennessee when the truck had approximately 119,500 miles. I have some receipts and documentation and I will provide those to the buyer. The owner at that time drove it for close to 17,000 miles before he sold it to the person I purchased the truck from. The owner before me then put another 1500 miles on the truck and then decided to do a number of performance upgrades which are listed below. You will see that the truck has had a substantial amount of investment put into it and it definitely shows in the resulting outcome. The truck now has 141,750 miles showing on the odometer and I believe that based on my trace history, this reading is correct.

The owner prior to me decided to increase some of the truck's performance aspects without changing the reliability and drive-ability of the vehicle. He researched Harris Performance (you can go to tbichips.com to find out more info) and really liked what they had to say about building TBI motors. He used his cam, intake, & chip ideas for this build. The performance upgrades are as follows: Installed Edelbrock TBI Intake manifold, Updated Throttle Body, Comp Cams 249 H cam designed for TBI motors, New valve springs, Chrome Headers, New free flowing Y Pipe Exhaust into a Flowmaster muffler with custom drops at the back corners of the bed.

This truck has a great sound that can best be described as not loud, just very deep. There is no exhaust drone sound at any RPM. As previously stated, it is a great truck to cruise in.

In addition to the above upgrades, the previous owner told me he wanted a little more get up and go in the truck so he installed a 4:10 Auburn Posi rear end with upgraded brake drums. The truck has great cruising ability because of the 700 r4 Overdrive transmission. If you want to burn the rubber off the rear tires, you definitely can do that, but I do not abuse my vehicles and have rarely done so. The truck is a great runner with good fuel economy. When the previous owner did the upgrades he also went ahead and put in a new radiator, high flow fuel pump, power steering pump, and anything that could be updated. Front and rear brakes were new when I purchased the truck, they operate great and I estimate they have about 4000 total miles on them; front disk, rear drum.

Since I bought the truck, I have done the following: replaced the front windshield, power steering pump hoses, wiper motor and wiper blades. I have recharged the A/C (blows ice cold now). The A/C had a minor leak at one of the hose connections when I bought the truck and that has been remedied simply by tightening the fitting. The truck has a brand new battery and brand new Hankook tires all around. The tires have less than 10 miles on them as of today.

The tires are mounted on American Racing 18" wheels in the front (235/50/18 tires) and 20" in the rear (265/50/20 tires). The wheels are flawless, with no scratches, road rash or pitting. The truck has a beautiful lowered stance as you can see from the photos. The look was achieved by using Bell Tech Lowering Spindles on the front and a Rear Flip Kit with notched frame on the rear. I have included photos of these mechanicals for review. The truck has a metal Custom Billet grille on the front and a smooth roll pan on the rear.

The body of the truck is great and that is not an overstatement. I give the paint a 9+ out of 10 rating; if the bed of the truck were unused, I would upgrade my rating to a 10 without hesitation. The paint has a great reflective finish and as you can see in the photos, shines like glass. There are no road chips anywhere on the truck as they have all been repaired, sanded and buffed. The truck is 25 years old and there are some flaws. I am listing them herein. The drivers door has a tiny, barely detectable ding from some careless person hitting the door with their car door at some point. If you go to the photos, feel free to zoom that side of the truck and I am certain you cannot find it; however, I am posting this because I believe in disclosure. There is a small dent in the top of the passenger side bed rail. It looks like an elbow mark. I have a photo of it showing this small imperfection. It is very hard to see unless you are looking for it but, again, I believe in full disclosure and if you are like me, you don't want any surprises. The bed of the truck is in excellent shape; however the bed has been used and it is scratched from use. There are no dings nor dents in the bed itself or any of its sidewalls. The bed still has a great sheen just like the rest of the truck. Again, I am enclosing photos for review. I am not saying that this is an all out show truck, but it is very close. You could take it to any cruise-in or show and it would be one of the nicest vehicles there. As to mechanics on the body, the doors do not sag as their bushings have been upgraded so doors close like new.

There is no rust anywhere on this truck. I have cleaned the undercarriage and put a sealant on the frame that bonds with the metal and prevents rust. The sealant is great and will not peel as a paint typically would over time. I have used this Permatex sealant on my vehicles for years. I did paint the wheel wells, front only, with gloss black, just as a refresh. The non-frame, underside areas have been cleaned and are not painted; I left them that way so that the original paint shows.

The interior is stock and in great shape. For a truck with this mileage I would give it an excellent rating and think that it is better than any similar trucks I have seen on-line. There are no rips or tears in the seats although I do see some barely detectable minor repairs. I am not certain you would even see them, but again, full disclosure. The truck has the original factory premium sound system with a separate equalizer and cassette player. The one issue of note on the interior is that the fuse door cover on the under side of the dash is broken. Apparently this is a common design problem on these trucks. I have the cover door and will include it, but one of the tabs has broken off like most of these do. I never worried about it and it wasn't noticeable. The original rubber floor mats are still in the truck and in great shape.

The engine compartment is clean and all original decals seem to be in place. I have included photos for review.

I have made every effort to resolve anything that I thought would be of issue for the next owner just as I would expect for a person selling a vehicle to me. The truck was great when I bought it and is in even better condition now. This GMC truck is a knock out and gets rave reviews on its looks and outstanding condition everywhere I go. I hate to get rid of this beautiful and fun truck, but I only have time for so many toys as I also own other vintage and performance vehicles. Something has to go, and reluctantly, I am selling this truck. I am confident that the next owner will love having it. If there are any questions, please message me. As note, I will not sell the truck for less than the listing price. Please do not contact me and ask me what I will take for it. My listing price herein is the minimum asking price and at this figure is a great deal.
