up for auction is a 1955 G.M.C. 1/2 ton pickup, i am selling this vehicle for a customer of mine. this pickup is a 1955 2nd series w/ big back window and short bed. my client purchased this pickup in 2004 from an individual in Harrah Oklahoma. he drove it a while, prior to the restorationprocess. it is believed that the pickup was originally bought in the Enid Oklahomaarea, and has remained in Oklahomasince new. this vehicle was totally disassembled, the frame was sandblasted & primed. a 1977 Pontiactrans am front suspension clip was then welded in place providing power steering, front disc brakes and motor mounts. this work was done by "Ken Neel" of "Chevy/GMC customs"in TulsaOklahoma. the rear axle assembly came from the same Pontiacas the front suspension, then all frame and chassis components werepainted a chassis black enamel,(please view photos). custom body modifications were performed to the dash and a custom aluminum dash insert was installed withauto meter gauges. a new kenwood stereo was also installed, plus an after market heat air conditioning unit was installed. at this time a stainless steel fuel tank/ fuel pump were relocatedfrom inside the cab to the rear of vehicle. this work was performed by "Mike Hayes Hot Rods", Choctaw, Okla.. a 1959 Impala steering wheel was custom cast and painted a tutone. a new windshield and "big window" rear glass was installed. also new side glass and vent glass is provided. plus a power window kit is provided for both doors.
a 305 c.i./5.0 liter engine and 700r4 automatic overdrive transmission from a 1986 Chevrolet Caprice wagon, odometer showing (64,000 miles) was the donor engine/ trans. transplant. the engine was bored .30 over, with new pistons, rings, valve job, and r/v cam installed. also a new Edelbrock 1460 performance carburetor was installed. a transmission shift kit was included in the process. and a new radiator was also installed. this work was performed by "County Auto Serivice", McCloud, Okla. here is a partial list of some of the larger/expensive items included and installed on this pickup1. A/C unit is "vintage air-mini gen II w/ def., streamline knobs, PNL ASIT anodized2. Kenwood AM/FM CD/MP3 player3. brand new pickup sheet metalbox, side rails, support rails etc,.. from Classic Chevrolet, OKC.4 customoak bed kit with polished bolts and bed strips. plus a new correct script tailgate from "MAR-K in OKC.5. all bumpers and existingchrome performed by "DC" bumpers and "DiversifiedLTD in OKC.6. final body work/ paint completed by "Donnie Dukes Customs", Choctaw, Okla. note: body and custom paint completed fall of 20167. body color --dupont chroma base B8904K-bright red effect, 1989/90 ford8. top color--dupont chroma base B9471K-midnight red effect, 1994/97 ford9. new tires (no miles as of yet) size-255/60/15 BFG radial T/As10. new wheels no miles 15" X 5 on 4/75 american torque thrustpolished the current owner has over $40,000.00 invested, and although it is near completion, it will still require a new interior, and other minor chassis issues to become road worthy. my client has lost interest over the last few years and his lack of interest can be your good fortune! i am in the OklahomaCity area and can answer any questionsabout the vehicle, please phone with any questions @ 1-405-813-1932 and ask for johnnie
