!!! PLEASE READ !!!
I am selling my 1987 GMC 2500 3/4 Ton 4X4 long bed pickup. (I KNOW IT HAS CHEVY MARKINGS ON IT, BUT IT IS A GMC)
The truck has a 5.7 (350 ci) TBI fuel injected engine that runs strong, a 700R overdrive transmission that shifts just fine, and 4 wheel drive that works good. It has headers with a dual flow master exhaust. Sounds great !! I just put new front brake pads on along with a new power steering pump with reservoir, new power steering lines, belt and power steering gearbox. The lift kit was already done when I got it, I believe it is a 6 inch suspension with a 3 inch body lift. The tires are 33X12.50-R16.5LT M&S and they are in decent shape with decent tread. The truck still has its factory 14 bolt GM rear differential along with the factory GM 10 bolt front differential, running the factory gear ratio of 3.23:1.
The truck is inspected until 3-2017, it runs, drives and mechanically does what it is suppose to. Because of its age, the odometer only has five digits reading 36,690. I'm willing to bet that it is 136,690.
The truck needs rust repair on the floors, rockers, cab corners, and possibly the driver front cab mount, along with some other cosmetic interior and exterior work. It comes with new (un-installed) right and left half floor pans, but the rest of the metal work is up to you. The doors are a little beat up, so I would say they should be replaced and the tailgate has seen better days. Other then that, the frame is straight and solid, and the fenders, along with the bed are in decent restorable shape.
Look at the pictures; you can see what it needs.
I bought this truck with the intentions of doing a full frame off rebuild, but just can't seem to find the time, so I've been driving it as it is.
The most common question is; “Will it drive home?” Well, it all depends on where home is. The furthest distance that I have driven the truck was 50 miles one way on the interstate and then the 50 miles back. Other then that I mainly drove it around town. I never checked the speedometer against my GPS to see how far off it is with the lift and bigger tires, but it cruised at around 70 MPH. So, to answer that question, it will be up to you if you want to try to make a long trip on the highway or not.
