I purchased this CRX Si new in April of 1991 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The car has remained in that area since, with me as the only driver. We’ve accumulated too many vehicles and this one’s simply not being driven enough, so as difficult as it is to part with, it’s time for someone else to enjoy it.
The car is in original condition, with no modifications.Approximately 10 years ago, I had the hood repainted due to some oxidation. In hind sight, I should have done the front fenders as well, as there’s now oxidation on the top of the fenders.I’d love to say the car is 100% rust free, but for whatever reason, these cars had issues with the paint bubbling on the moon roof panel. This one has a few of those spots.A local shop quoted me $150 to repair it.
Aside from that, this car is solid as a rock.No accidents, panel replacement or repair.
As far as other common issues with aging CRX’s in general, and how I’ve addressed those:
·Radiators can crack near the mounting points, particularly if pressure is put on the top of the radiator during maintenance – I replaced my radiator with a new OEM Honda part about five years ago.
·Climate Control panel breaks at the temperature adjustment dial – Mine finally cracked about two years ago, and I just replaced it with an OEM Honda part last month (I still have the original in the box as well).
·Main Relay solder joints cause no-start issues – Over the past year or so, I had this happen a couple times on extremely hot days, and I replaced the Main and Power Relays with OEM Honda parts.I still have the originals, as simply re-flowing the solder will fix the issue with these.
The car has the OEM Honda accessories driving lights mounted in the lower front bumper, wired up with the OEM harness by the Honda dealership where I purchased them in ’93.It comes with the OEM Honda accessories full front nose mask/bra.I also still have a great condition set of the original OEM Honda accessories floor mats.See pictures for all of these accessories.
Installed are a set of Michelin Pilot Exalto all-season tires with less than 3000 miles on them. All four wheels are in great condition, with no curb rash whatsoever. As is common, a couple of the center caps do have some relatively minor paint chipping on them.
When I purchased the CRX new, it did not have an OEM radio installed.I have the radio delete panel that it came with.Currently installed and included with the car are an Alpine single CD head unit, MB Quart 6 ½" component speakers in the front doors, and Rockford Fosgate 5 ¼" coaxials in the rear panels.I have and will provide all manuals for these components.
Overall, this car is in impressive condition, given its age.I’m very particular about my personal possessions, with an eye for detail, and I don’t believe the pictures do this car justice vs. seeing it driving down the road.If you’re in the Raleigh, NC area and would like to check the car out in person, I have a very flexible schedule and would be happy to show it.It’s an attention getter for sure! You just don’t see many of them at all anymore, let alone in the kind of condition this one’s in.
Given that the CRX's can sell for a wide price range, based on their condition,I have set a reserve. The reserve price is well below where I’ve seen CRX’s of significantly lesser condition sell for over the past few years.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the condition and/or history of this ’91 Honda CRX Si.I’m happy to provide as much detail as you like.
