52 MPG City Driving – 57 MPG Highway Driving!
Introduced to the US market in 1984 by Honda as the compact go-getter, the fuel economy figures for the CRX were an instant hit, and Honda sold many. In fact, the first-year sales were reported as over 48,000 units being sold. Honda also sold 66,629 CRX’s in 1986, so when was the last time you saw one with under 10,000 miles on it? With this 1986 example having covered a mere8080miles from new, it’s a catch…
The car starts and runs, and even smells like a Honda from back in the day. The Blue paint is in good condition, but would benefit from a good polish to bring up to snuff, the rear passenger side wheel arch has a small scrape from what looks like a minor car park incident. This has not been addressed by us as it would not be a true survivor car, but a car that has received paint. The new owner will have the opportunity to either leave this alone or remedy this minor flaw at their discretion.
The manual shift knob looks like new and the leather gator surrounding it looks the same. Factory fitted Honda Tape deck still resides in the dash complete with “Auto-Reverse” feature. Manual crank windows and chrome effect door handles let you exit this 80’s throwback, all while obtaining European gas mileage…
As for the rest of the car, the interior is in good shape as per the images with no noticeable wear to the seats, dash or carpets. Please study these images, they really show the originality of this car. Dash top looks just as it should, no sun damage present.
The head liner looks great, and the rear trunk area houses the spare, tool kit roll and hardboard covering, just where Honda left them. Please take note of the underside shots, many factory markings are still present on bolt heads and components – Reference grade quality for the Honda Lover.
The car comes with it’s Virginian Actual Mileage Title, and a clear Carfax showing 12 Detailed records and supporting mileage documentation. We can also confirm the Original Window Sticker is present from the initial purchase of the car.
Also included in the paperwork of the glovebox is a tire receipt for $281.36 for four tires fitted in August of 2009. These Firestone FR 380’s are still worn by the light weight factory alloys today, they have weathered well although we would recommend replacing them before the car is driven any distance in the future as they are 10 years old.
All in all, a very together CRX with low miles and the potential to be a great investment/Sunday car for the right person. This car represents a great entry level collector car with limited use and mileage, a great opportunity to get involved in the collector car market!
