long description short.... I've owned this car for about 8 years. car came from south florida. the original motor had a broken timing belt when i bought it. i swapped a jdm d15b vtec motor in with new water pump and timing belt and motor mount inserts. there's no documentation on mileage of the d15b but when valve cover is open, the motor is very clean, it runs trouble free and sounds just how it should. i reused the original trans with new clutch (8years ago). i also converted to obd1 with a stock p28 ecu and a purchased jumper harness. the car stayed in that stock state for a while until i lowered it on tokico shocks and neuspeed race spring with a front camber kit. i swapped out the original blown muffler for a great sounding and clean looking tanabe super hyper medallion cat-back with a custom test pipe. the car is currently on a set of genuine 15" Mugen MR5 wheels with Kumho ecstas 195/50 tires. tires still have plenty of tread life left in them. that is about the extent of the after market mods besides maybe on the inside is a buddy club shift knob, the alpine radio with iPod hook up (cd player non functional) and after market speakers( i believe they're pioneer) it was wired for an amp by the previous owner and the wires are still in rear storage box. i later put a set of sleeve coilovers on the front for a slightly lower stance in the front. in these pics car is still on those sleeve coilers but since then i have put the car is back on neuspeed springs on all 4 corners with 1/4" spacers in the rear to level the stance out. i just changed the oil, put in new axles and brake pads on all 4 corners. the car was just recently aligned a couple weeks ago.
some quick pros and cons..
pros. overall great shape. Some oem goodness, tasteful mods, straight body, no rot, maybe just some surface rust in some paint chips, interior 99% complete, untorn cargo cover is included, super reliable, sunroof panel only a few years old, no leaks under hood, gets plenty of attention and 35+mpg
cons. A/C compressor needs replacing, all components are still in tact, hood pop sticks some of the time, just needs a second hand to open or a bang on the hood or an adjustment, sunroof panel/tracks need stops ($50) common Crx issue. motor works fine though, opens great and closes with a little helping hand. driver window sometimes a little guidance at the top when rolling up. The usual crx stuff (broken climate control, fan blower works on 3&4(who really uses 1&2 anyway), missing rear view mirror cover, tear in seat bolster, leaky hatch), clear coat on driver fender and door peeling (were resprayed by previous owner) i was going to try to find an oem fender and door with original paint to replace them with but it wasn't a priority. if i was keeping it i would invest in a bushing kit/balljoint kit for the whole car to sure up the suspension and steering feel and possibly a nice paint job.
i told myself i would NEVER sell this car and wanted to do a major restoration on it one day soon but the car is in too good of shape to justify tearing it down. i figured i would be better off starting with a junker instead of messing with a car that has never really been tampered with. by no means is this a $10,000 crx nor is it a $2,000 one. i had a hard time pricing this because the market is crazy and what people want for some beat CRXs is ridiculous. i have since decided to put it up for auction with a fair starting price. for the final sale price i will also include the original motor with the car. i would like the original motor to stay with the car so whoever ends up with this car can make it back to original state if they wanted to. car is located just west of atlanta ga. buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements or picking up car here. please ask any questions you may have before bidding because i will not cancel any bids. if you have less than 5 feedbacks, please contact me prior to bidding. please do not contact me asking me what the reserve price is, simply bid like you want to win it. the car is for sale locally so i do reserve the right to end the auction early if its sold by another means. deposit needs to be made within 48 hours of end of auction and payment should be from a verifiable banks certified check. car will not leave my possession until i know funds are secured.
like i stated earlier, this is not a restored show car or a super low mileage "grandma drove it to the pharmacy" car, it is a 25 year old used car that has remained in very good shape and lived most if not all its life in the south. there are a couple minor dings, weathering on some surfaces, some chipped paint in a few places like the nose and around door openings. still this rex is a lot nicer than most crxs I've seen in person. I'm trying to give the hardest and most critical overview i can so there are no surprises but I'm sure the next owner of this car will not be disappointed by any means. the car is a blast to drive and gets lots of thumbs up and compliments from other motorist and honda enthusiasts especially.
here go some pics... remember this is the car with coilovers in the front. neuspeeds sit it a bit higher but level with the rear spacer. **Also the armrest is NOT included with the vehicle**
