Description

1971 California Scout II

Barn Find

345 V8, Manual Trans,

4x4, Convertible, PS/PB

Up for Auction is this super solid and highly optioned CA Scout II. Rescued this Iconic SUV from the dry desert of California. It hadn’t been on the road since 1992! It sports a newly rebuilt 2bbl Carb, new water pump, new custom aluminum radiator, new battery, complete tune up and the big 345 runs and drives with plenty of power. The Scout has Power steering & power brakes with discs up front. Bullet proof Dana’s front and rear. Mileage shows 56805 but there is no way to verify actual mileage. The manual tranny works and shifts like it should but might need a new throwout bearing soon! The current tires are very good with plenty of tread. The Scout rolls on very rare and original Rallye Wheels. It has a small Rancho lift with new leaf springs and Rancho shocks all around. The body is incredibly solid with absolutely zero rust/cancer. I’ve had many Scouts in the past and this is by far straightest and most solid Scout that I’ve had in a long time. The fender lips, rockers, quarters, floor boards, cargo area and body mounts are perfect, see the pics and especially check out the body mounts! This is the way you want to find these rigs! The exterior has a very cool patina and is little or no visible damage anywhere. The paint is not show quality but looks period correct and matches the Scouts personality with only a few minor bumps and bruises for its 45 years of age. The interior is complete, original and in great shape. The black color on the front floorboards is just cardboard insulation material….but the floors are very solid! I’m pretty confident the top has never been off because the door seals look original and have never been cut. All the glass is in great shape and perfect with a brand new windshield. The only minor negative on this awesome Scout is that, while it sat for many years in a secured outdoor storage lot, the yard dog unfortunately feasted on the wiring under the rig. The Scout runs and drives great but the headlights/taillights/sendors, etc. will need to be trouble shot due the Pit Bull’s ferocious appetite-lol. It’s not bad though and probably just needs some wires spliced and repaired. These Scout II’s are by far the best looking and are most recognizable/desirable and not to mention more modern equipped with better brakes and better Dana’s. The California Title is clear, signed and ready to go. Serious bidders only…please check with your boss before clicking that “Bid” box. This true American Icon is so fun to drive and draws attention everywhere it goes.Fairly priced with a low reserve. Would make a great Tax Refund gift for that special person. Where else are going to find a great Scout like this that is not totally rusted out and not a POS for under 10K? Restored, they are pulling ridiculous money which makes it a great investment!

Haggerty Insurance said this about International Scouts: “International Scouts SUV’s are up by 85%” and that “These SUV’s are going to be the next big thing”.
