The Story:

In 2010 I bought a 1970 IH Scout 800A Aristocrat. I had only Scout II’s before that. I started doing research on special edition (or “Doll-Up) Scout 800’s. I found out that they made a limited edition (488-500) 1971 Scout 800B SnoStar. I set out to find one.

Ibought this one at an auction in a small town in Missouri. I shipped it home and continued to Springfield OH for the 20th Annual Scout & Light Truck Nationals 2009. I started asking questions about where to get the Aristocrat and SnoStar restored. A shop in Springfield was recommended and when I got home I contacted them.

I shipped it to Ohio and after four years I got it back completed.

I brought it home to AR and put it in storage. A couple of years ago I decided to put it in a local car and truck show to show it off. Problems began to appear. I had to repaint the hood and top due to peeling paint. I also put it on a rack and discovered the frame was peeling paint, the axles and differentials had not been cleaned before being painted over, and the front knuckles were never rebuilt and had been painted over also.

SO…In the last two years I have repainted the hood and top, power cleaned and scraped and painted the frame and undercoated the Scout. I’ve had the knuckles rebuilt, cleaned and painted. Installed a rebuilt fuel pump, rebuilt carburetor, and a new brake master cylinder. And I am touching up some paint under the hood. I also had a copy of the original Myers snowplow decal made and placed in proper position on back of plow.

The Scout has 4 Goodyear Wranglers GS-A's on it with plenty of tread left. There is a new matching spare that I haven't mounted on the bulkhead yet.

I now have it looking almost as good as new. I’ve corrected most everything that I didn’t like.

It is time to sell this little beauty and start on my second SnoStar and finish my Aristocrat.

I have most all the invoices and receipts for the restoration.

Question? Call Larry at 918-855-0727.

I have more photos and a short video of the SnoStar pulling an 18’ car hauler loaded with kids in last year’s Christmas Parade.
