Searching for a classic pickup truck that lacks four-wheel-drive, something not showroom ready that needs some work? Stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars and check out this classic Binder. Its previous owne...r used it as a daily driver.
Made in I-H’s Springfield, Ohio assembly plant and dressed in Whitecap White, this truck’s paint has nice patina, not shiny condition. Think of it as a blank canvas, ready to let you express yourself as you revitalize it. The glass panels are also in overall fair shape, as the driver’s side window and rear window are cracked. The truck’s lights are in good order, clear and intact.
The truck rides on no-name whitewall radial tires that are old and cracking surrounding red steel wheels. The truck’s body panels are still straight and solid. The engine bay is in very good condition, the bumpers look decent and the battery looks great.
Under that hood is a Black Diamond 221 CID straight six-cylinder engine mated to a Borg-Warner three-speed manual transmission.
Inside, the brown bench seat is in fair order and there is no carpet. The headliner could use some TLC and the gray instrument panel, with a complete set of gauges, however the fuel gauge is inop but everything else is in good order. The original four-spoke steering wheel is present and the door skins are in decent order. The mirror glass and shift lever are in good condition. A flashlight is strapped under the dashboard and there is a pair of ancillary gauges below the dash.
In the spring of 1957, International replaced the S-series with the A-series. The all-new A-cab was much more modern than the S-cab, (which was based on the 1950 L-cab). The A-series cab was mounted much lower and did away with external running boards. The large windshield wrapped around to meet the vertical A-pillars. The A-series model range was the same as the S-series range and the range of powertrains was the same except that the powerful Black Diamond 264 was newly optional in the A-100 to A-130 models. International advertised it as the six with the performance of a V-8 because it equaled the power of the Chevrolet 265 V-8.
The A-100 series was made up of the 4200-pound GVW A-100 and 5000-pound GVW A-102. To celebrate its 50th year as a motor vehicle manufacturer International produced a special Golden Jubilee Custom Pickup on the A-100 chassis. The Custom pickup bed was one of the first true wide-body (fenderless) pickup boxes.
Competitors to this Binder in 1958 included Chevrolet’s 3100 Task Force pickups, GMC’s Blue Chip pickups, Ford’s F-Series and Dodge’s C-Series.
This truck is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 6,220 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
