I ran an auction and thought I sold this vehicle 2 weeks ago, but while I was in the process of arranging the shipping.... another eBay member used my description and pictures fraudulently to relist and resell this car as if it was located in Georgia. Ebay's fraud department was notified, and is running an investigation into that eBay user. Please look at my photos, that is Oregon not Georgia and those are Oregon plates on the rig. The vehicle is sitting on my property in Ashland, OR and the title is in my name, free and clear...I'm currently looking at it out my window.

(I just update the current mileage over my original listing of 2 weeks ago, because I've been driving the rig back and forth into town)
* 1977 Model year International Harvester Scout II Traveler in excellent running condition! Only 104,632 original miles on it. I've done a little research on this rig in the International Scout Encyclopedia by Jim Allen and John Glancy. This rig is only a handful of 2wd Scout II travelers that were special ordered by and delivered to a Dealer in Canada in late 1976. Actual production date of is rig is 9/30/1976. At some point it was brought back down and registered in the US, previously being owned by a Scout collector in Roseburg Oregon who in turn sold it do a commercial diesel mechanic in Redding Ca. I purchased from that mechanic who kept it in excellent running condition. Between he and I, the following things have been replaced within the last 2 and a half years:
  • 2 barrel Holley Carb (all engine work done by professional mechanic)
  • Alternator
  • Distributor / plugs / and wiring
  • New NAPA fan Clutch
  • New NAPA water pump
  • New Master Cylinder (brakes work perfect now!) Installed by Les Schwab in Ashland, OR
  • Aftermarket oil pressure gauge installed
  • Ignition re-wired to a push button ignition for security
  • Heater - new electric motor
  • Brand new front windshield
  • All glass gasket / chrome trim replaced
  • New front window trim sweeps - driver side and passenger
  • New side view mirrors installed - driver side and passenger
  • Rear cargo area and floor up to and under passenger seat was just professionally Linex coated
  • New trim pieces around headlights
  • New wiper blades
  • Stainless steel beverage holder installed (as manufactured by scouts parts.com out of portland)
Most everything else is in factory original and good working order with the exception of the fuel gauge (which only works intermittently) and the oil gauge which was bypassed to the aftermarket gauge. The biggest issue that I had planned to address next is the interior upholstery. Both seats need to be either recovered or reupholstered. I had meant to get to this but have run out of time and the energy. I've been driving it with a pendelton blanket on the front seat... which works fine for just bombing around town back and forth to the hardware store, etc...
Factory motor is a naturally aspirated 345ci V-8 as manufactured by IH. It can be a bit cold blooded in the winter, but as you can see in the video.. she fires right up here in the Fall, and note that the block is cold during that start up. This summer I thought she had a tendency to get hot while driving in 100 weather, but that turned out to be a weak fan clutch ... so that was just replaced.
Please look through the pics as they're pretty detailed. This rig is extremely clean and straight on the exterior, and does look to have been repainted white within the last 10 years. Factory color was also white as you can see under the hood and door details, etc... The only bad spot is at the bottom of the windshield, passenger side. About a nickel size paint pop, and a quarter size bubble. You can see it in the video below. Other than that... the rig is free of cancerous rust or filler, clean and straight!

This is a great example of a rare 2wd factory posi-traction rear Scout II, and probably belongs in somebody's collection. At the very least, she'll serve you well as a fun kick around rig that get's tons' of attention where it goes. The top does come off as well for summer fun!

* vehicle update 9/19/17 - The radiator was flushed, all lines inspected, water pump, thermostat housing, fan clutch all gone over..... and the oil was just changed.

I also pressure tested each cylinder to rule out a possible head gasket leak. Left bank and right bank all run within spec., and I've labeled each cylinders pressure reading on the valve cover. This rig is a runner, and is ready to drive!
