1969 IHC INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER SCOUT 800A solid rust free body, original
Description
1969 SCOUT 800A 304v8 IHC (not AMC), 3 speed 4x4
History:
This '69 International Harvester Scout 800A was originally in Arizona. Somehow is made its way to Los Alamos NM and sat in a couple different yards for +10 years. 2 years ago it was given to a professional mechanic who replaced a u-joint, tuned up the engine, misc. stuff. I bought it from him and continued to upgrade the lights, clean up engine bay, revise the seats, adjust and clean the hardtop, added a front bumper, etc. and have been driving since.
This Scout has a bunch of dents, but virtually no rust. It is kind of like someone drove it around in the forest bumping it up against trees.
The suspension was a mess and I swapped it out with a 70s Jeep CJ5 leaf spring kit. It works better, but really should be replaced. Seats are temporarily Jeep CJ. New Carb, new battery, etc. all goes with it.
It is manual steering from the factory and like most IHC vehicles, kind of handles like a tractor.
HERE IS THE BAD NEWS - I was driving it off an on for about a year then a couple of weeks ago suddenly started a loud grinding noise and wont start again. I haven't even had the heart to try to spin the crank manually....and now......I just want to pass it on.
CLEAN NM TITLE in my name. Also some extra parts included you might not see in the photos like original rear view mirror, tail lights, etc.
If you know anything about the IHC Scouts they are appreciating faster than Ford Broncos and AMC Jeeps. Take it to the next, final level and this could be a real collectors truck.
