Description

For sale at NO reserve: 1963 International Harvester C-120 4x4 Travelall. The truck was owned for many years by an older gentleman locally that used it at his mountain cabin for elk hunting and plowing snow here out west in the land of the sagebrush and prickly pear cactus. It is set up with the big Ramsey PTO winch that was a factory and dealer installed option on these rigs. This is a broad-shouldered and burly truck. If you can't get it done with this rig, it probably doesn't need doing! It has seen only occasional use for the last 30 years, not sure what the mileage is since the odometer is non-op. Good running and driving rig that you can use as is till you restore. I'll do my best to describe it below.
Exterior: Solid survivor with just the right patina. 95 percent rust free with minor surface spots, plenty of dings and dents as shown. The only appreciable rust is in front floors and a few spots behind the wheels. See link to underside pics. Nothing hidden with undercoat. what you see is what you get. In this arid land, we don't see major cancer or rot - there's just not much moisture and sand, not salt, is used on the roads. Even out west we do see rust in the floors from snow on boots melting and also from the windshield seal leaking over time. Driver front floor has had a repair and passenger side has heavy scale with a few holes. I believe the truck has mainly original paint with some touchups in several areas. Unlike most old Travelalls, the doors close fine. Overall good solid truck. Windshield is not cracked, passenger side front door glass and passenger rear side glass have cracks. A few small repairs by previous owner made with filler showing - see pics. He also cut the front grille panel for a brush guard that has since been removed. Front bumper is bent as shown. There is a good front grille panel in one of our local boneyards, I could possible arrange for that to be shipped with the truck at additional cost.
Interior: Original and showing typical wear. Radio, wipers, and most lights work, heater is non-op and aftermarket electric unit has been added. Headliner is intact with one hole from a roof mounted spotlight. Speedometer isn't working. Rear window doesn't operate, haven't checked into it.
Good overall driver condition, use as is till you can take it to the next level.
Mechanical: Starts and runs great. Motor is quiet and smooth. Torquey V8 and low gears provide plenty of grunt for work or off-road. No noticeable smoke, noises, or major leaks. Drives out as good as can be expected for old knobby bias tires. Rig had been sitting in a barn for a while, I took it to a professional mechanic for full service and checkup. Right side tank was drained and flushed and carb rebuilt. Haven't tried left side tank but it doesn't smell varnished. Transmission and transfer case work fine in all gears. Heater is non-op. Tried the winch, haven't got it working yet but will mess with it this week and update auction. These vintage PTO winches are collectible and very desirable. Tires have good tread but are old and weather cracked. Fun to drive and it gets some looks!
Pricing/Misc: These trucks in good condition are hard to find and expensive. Travelall 4x4's have gone crazy since the "War Wagon" Travelall (last picture shown) sold for six figures at Barrett Jackson. They are unique and you won't see another one at Cars N' Coffee. If you do a quick Ebay search on the Ramsay winch, you'll find it's worth a considerable amount on it's own. It's no minty cream puff, but a good solid driver you can use as is with a little sorting while you restore it. If you haven't messed with old vehicles before, they do need work so adjust your expectations accordingly.

You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the truckprior to bidding.I'm not a dealer, I don't do this for a living, I'm an enthusiast. If you'd like any detailed photos of a specific area of the truck, just ask! I have many photos of it but will be glad to take more if needed. Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly.Transport isreadily availableandprobably cheaper than fixingmajorroton a Midwest or East Coast tetanus truck. While the truck runs and drives, it's not a good plan to fly in and drive it home since it's an old rig, and stuff happens. Cell service is poor in Montana and it's a long way between towns. Montana title isclear with no liens. After the sale, I can store the truck for up to 30 days free, after that $100 per month storage will be due. Buyer needs to get insurance as soon as car is paid for as I will cancel mine at that time.
