1969 International Scout 800A
Description
This is a 1969 International Scout 800A which I bought in Arizona 3 years ago. The truck had had some cosmetic work done to it after being stored away in a California barn for what I was told was over 30 years. It had been in a dry and arid climate for its entire life so the body work is beautiful for a 1969 vehicle. This Scout has the original hard top and now a removable soft top which is great for summer cruising! I love this Scout and it turns heads everywhere I go but I live in the city now and haven't got the time to drive it very much so want to give it a new home.
The color is not an original stock color of the '69 Scout but was painted in Mercedes Silver. I stripped and painted a new dashboard panel including a reupholstered dash bumper to match the original design of the Scout. The steering column is original but I rewired the entire electrics in the truck, replaced the steering wheel, and installed Auto Meter Black Diamond gauges. All gauges, lights and electrics are in working order and I also installed a JVC stereo system with Bluetooth. Speakers are in each door and two in the rear. I replaced the original Scout seats with Corbeau Sport seats and 3 point seat belts. The rear seat is the original Scout bench also with 3 point seat belts. In will send along the original front seats if you decide you want to put them back in (photo included). I installed a custom built family roll cage painted in matte black and the truck also comes with the original spare tire swing arm (not currently installed on gate). The truck has a custom fit cover from California Cover which it is kept under whenever not in use during the spring and summer months and I've garaged the truck for the winter months.
The engine is the 304 V8. From what I can tell it's mostly original but I overhauled a number of things including a new Edelbrook 1406 Carburetor. I installed a new electric fuel pump and filter for carburetored fuel system. Also installed in the truck is a battery key which is used while the truck sits for long periods of time. I did both a power steering conversion and power brake conversion as well. In March of this year I rebuilt the transmission. I did remove the entire 4WD component because it wasn't engaged when I bought it. That was going to be my next project but it does run smooth and quiet. Just a good sounding engine.
Other modifications and installations include:- Door locks- Electric wipers- Weatherstripping- Side view mirrors- Fuse Box- Horn relay- LED indicators- High Beam switch- New starter- New Alternator- Exhaust gasket- Choke cable- Steering coupler- Wheel alignment- Rear brake shoes- New springs- Shackle Kit- Transmission rebuild- Installation of heat barrier between engine and cab
I've included two photos of cosmetic issues which are a two inch tear in the rear bench seat and a nick in the windshield. I've listed the mileage as 2000 but that is just since I've installed the new gauges.
I have paperwork and manuals for parts bought which I can include if you want them.
The buyer will be responsible for picking up the truck or providing transport. This Scout is in Brooklyn, NY. I will of course help you coordinate pickup. Also please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
