1979 Scout original survivor, low miles, zero rust runs and drives perfect
Description
This is a 1979 Scout II CVI, Custom Vehicle Industries custom edition, that was modified under contract with International Harvester. It was sold new at Dean's Automotive Service in Portales, New Mexico on 2/29/1980. This Scout has never been restored or modified. Its an unmolested low mileage survivor. The CVI conversion included blacked out trim, unique grille, unique exterior trim, a special stereo system and a factory Igloo cooler and cup holder between the seats! Mileage is only 38,000 from new. This Scout CVI has the original numbers matching Comanche 196 CID engine mated to the original three speed manual. The interior was ordered with no carpeting, no wood grain, and no cloth seats. It spent its life on a ranch in New Mexico and shows some faded original paint, and some surface scratches, a few minor dents and surface rust. The body, frame and floor are completely rust free. Mechanically this Scout is in excellent shape. No issues at all, there is no work needed. All the lights, gauges, and wipers work like new. The heat and defroster work like new. The tires have 100 miles on them. Clutch and transmission are quiet and smooth. Exhaust is quiet with no holes or leaks. Engine starts right up, runs quiet and smooth, and takes this Scout down the road smoothly. There are no irregular noises or any smoke or major leaks. The roof has never been removed. Everything is as original as the day this SUV left the factory. Reliable, fun to drive and a great investment that you can enjoy the minute you buy it. This is a rare unmolested mechanically sorted, no rust super rare CVI Scout that is ready to be driven anywhere.
