1949 International Harvester K2 pickup Flathead 6Cyl Knox box Project Runs NR
Description
This is a 1949 International Harvester K2 pickup truck with the Knox box. It is a complete truck and I believe it is only missing some of the trim pieces for the grill. There are some of these pieces laying inside the cab but I don't know if they are all there or not. The truck is pretty much all original with the original Flathead 6Cyl motor and a manual transmission. The motor will run but needs some minor work. I started it today off a gas can as the tank still has old fuel in it and will need to be drained and cleaned before being run but the original fuel pump still works good as it was pumping the old fuel out and I used a jump pack wired directly to the starter and coil for power. All of the original wiring is still intact and hooked up I just by passed it at the time but it is all there. I think one valve is stuck on the number 3 cylinder as it has excellent compression in all of the other cylinders and number 3 is backfiring through the carb. It is common for the valves to stick in these engines as they are a gravity close and when they sit they will sometimes stick in the up position. They are very easy to fix as the head comes off without much work. It was a running driving truck until the owner passed away and it just sat beside the garage (They had his 67 RS SS all original Camaro inside the garage). As you can see in the pictures the body is pretty solid, the green stuff you can see on the truck is dried up moss I think as it wipes right off and would come off with a quick trip through the car wash. The truck looks to have solid cab corners, rockers and floor as shown in the pictures. They did leave the metal plate off in the cab that covers the battery which is why the seat is missing the cover as an animal made it's way into it through the battery cover. I do have another seat out of a KB series truck that can come with if you want it. It has the Knox box on it which had a wooden floor which probably needs the wood bed replaced as they have a sheet of steel lying over it but I can see the wood floor through a bad spot in the steel piece and it is a wooden planked bed that is still under the steel. It is a long box truck. The truck rolls and steers without issue, it does have a couple junk tires on it as can be seen in the pictures, but I will have all 4 tires that will hold air on it when you come to get it. They won't be new but they will hold air. This truck could be left as is for the patina look that is popular right now as it would make a good truck for that or a fairly easy restore as it is all there and pretty solid. This is a project truck that needs work to be driven down the road. You will not be able to drive it home it will need to be hauled. It has a clean Iowa title. While it is a project it is a very easy one. As you can see in the background of the pictures I have way to many projects so I am just trying to thin them out a little bit.
