1971 International Harvester IH Scout 800B Sno-Star
Description
Selling my 1971 IH Scout 800 Sno-Star edition in order to focus on my '91 Dodge Cummins.
Books say only 474 were made, I've seen 4 or 5 in 20 years, and only one restored.
The Scout has 4x4, an AMC straight-6 engine, a Borg Warner 3-speed automatic. Factory Meyer hydraulic plow. Removable hard top. All four hubcaps. Spare wheel and tire. Rear seat. Original lineset ticket from the build. Twin 10 gallon tanks. Warn hubs. Dana 20 transfer case. Dana 30 front with 27 ends, Dana 44 rear in 3.73, Warn hubs, Meyer Plow. Automatic transmission console is included.
Drove it out of the garage (with a borrowed battery), starts and runs fine, brakes work a little, shifts and steers. Plow works. Factory boxed frame is solid with some scale. Body is in rough shape. Last on the road in the 80s, has been a plow truck for various folks since.
Floors are shot all the way through. Lot's of bondo down one side. Previous owner was a volvo guy and put in a volvo radiator and alternator. Running off a boat tank, of course.
This is a project. Or use it to plow your driveway. But rough as it is, still a good starting point. No, you can't drive it home, yes, you can drive it onto your trailer.
No title due to age. Will provide bill of sale only. Again, it has been off the road and unregistered for a good 30 years. It can be handled. If that's too big a hassle then this is definitely not the right Scout for you.
I've owned more than 20 IH's over the years and once took 2nd in category at Scout Nationals. This could be a great ride!
