1953 Yellowstone International Metro
I found this Metro a few months ago along with another one about the same time. I grabbed both in my zeal. I’ve decided to just keep one of them and spread the love so someone else can have a cool ride.
I’ve tried to include a ton of pictures so you know exactly what you’re getting. Lots of body work was done before I got the truck, the entire roof is sanded down to bare metal along with all the areas you can see in the pictures. I’ve kept it covered since the day I got it and it was inside a shop prior to that.
The doors and interior panels were removed before I got it, they are all inside the truck and labeled along with all the hardware and hinges. I have the headlight buckets and one headlight bezel. (The first generation International Scouts used the exact same headlight - they’re a drop in).
The grill and “metro” radiator access panel are missing. While I debated on whether or not to keep the Metro I looked into finding the grill and access panel. I’ve got a line on both and I will pass that info along to the buyer - and ONLY to the buyer.
The glass is missing (same with my other Metro) - I’m told having it replaced is easy enough as every piece is flat glass. The doors open and slide well. Underneath each door is the worse rust - it’s pretty much gone on both sides. The rust picture improves considerably from there, it’s pretty minimal other than surface rust.
I think it’s pretty obvious but I should note that the engine and transmission are missing along with the driveline. Whoever took it out even took the rear gears out and the axel shafts. It’s a full floating rear axel so it still rolls fine-ish (the rubber of the front driver tire is toast).
I don’t have any other parts for it other than what is pictured. (There’s a transmission sitting in the truck but that was just to store it - it doesn’t belong to the Metro)
I don’t have a title. I listed it as "clear" because eBay requires that I choose an option and "missing" isn't one of them. Having said that, I registered a ’61 Chevy two weeks ago that didn’t have a title. With cars this old that are obviously abandoned or barn-find projects, getting a title is pretty easy. I filled out a few forms at the DMV, paid the $6 fee, and I had a title in the mail on Friday. This was in Utah, your mileage may vary.
This Metro is in Salt Lake City, Utah. I can ship it wherever but the buyer is responsible for setting that up.
I hope I don’t lose my butt by doing this but… NO RESERVE!
I’ll start this auction out at $100 and let the chips and the free market guide the process.
Cool cars and Capitalism baby!
Happy bidding!
