Description

For sale is my 1985 Isuzu Pickup that I have owned since 2011. It was bought from a FL college with just under 50K on it and I've added under 2000 miles a year on it. The only modification I've done is add a Weber carb and remove emissions equipment (Catalytic converter was not removed). Truck starts easily if used daily, but is a little more difficult if it sits for a while.
RUST: Truck has very little rust for it's age (those who know these trucks know they rust very badly). The bed was removed this past year and doesn't have a single rust hole through it. The bottom of the bed has no surface rust. The frame has surface rust, but is solid throughout. There are no holes or flaking rust on any of these components. The tailgate has the worst rust localized to the lower right side. There are rust holes about 1" in diameter though each rocker panel. There is also a rust hole on the passenger side floor board about 3" in diameter from the previous owner allowing water to pool on the inside, as there is no rust damage underneath. I did not get a picture of it, but it is in a reinforced area and the road isn't visible. I never got around to repairing it...I just treated and applied rust bullet to prevent further damage. I owned a 1986 Pup back in 1994 and it was in much worse condition than this one 20 years later.
PAINT AND BODY: Paint is decent and matte, but shines up with a waxing. Side decals are delicate, yet not bad for their age. There are dents on just about every body panel from decades of use. The truck was in a hail storm at some point and has hail damage. The only dent it has that creased the metal is on the driver's side fender.
INTERIOR: This is the best part of this truck...it is very clean and complete compared to most other trucks I've seen. The bench seat is original without a single crack in it. The dashboard is in great condition with exception to one large crack in the center that is covered with a matching dash pad. The vinyl floorpad is cracked in several places but is still complete. The passenger sunvisor fell apart so it's missing, and the interior light does not work. I was just going to replace the floorpad and interior light and call it finished. Not too bad for a vehicle that endured the FL sun for a majority of it's life.
EXTRAS: Windshield was replaced about 4k miles ago and the carb has about 8k on it. The alternator has about 3k. Tires have plenty of tread on them and should be good for a few more years. I still have the original parts I pulled off. I also have an extra hood in case you want to respray and don't feel like fixing the hood damage.
This is an excellent donor for someone who has a diesel drivetrain still running in a truck that is rusting out from under it. A low mileage, low rust Isuzu Pup is a rare thing! It can also make a good first vehicle for someone. No EFI, no power steering, no air conditioning, nothing to result in expensive repairs. I had to replace the alternator and it cost $35 from Autozone....$35 DOLLARS!! And it took 10 minutes to replace!
I am only selling because I already have a project vehicle and an impending deployment would mean this sitting around another year. If I had it my way, I'd grab a VW TDI, Toyota transmission and an Acme Adapter and make this truck a 200HP, 300TQ, 45MPG dream.
