The XKE series Jaguar was an instant success from the moment it appeared at the automotive seen in 1961! As each new generation was improved from the last, it continued to offer more and more to the buyers after the prestigious luxury sports car from England! This included improved brakes, better suspension, superior interior comfort, more significant cooling, and bigger displacement engines! By 1971, the short wheel base offering was long gone in favor of a quality ride, and power steering was now a standard feature. The Series III was born with a V12 with quad Zenith-Stromberg carburetion under the bonnet, and only 7,990 convertibles were produced over the entire four year production!

We are delighted to offer this very recently restored 1974 Jaguar XKE Series III convertible finished in Regency Red over all new Biscuit Leather interior and Black soft top! Options include number matching 5.3L V12 engine producing a powerful 272 horsepower, automatic transmission, air conditioning, chrome 15” wire spoke wheels with American Classic whitewall tires, very rare & working British Leyland AM/FM radio, twin tip chrome exhaust, leather wrapped steering wheel, remote outside mirror, and more! Standard options included a responsive 4-wheel independent suspension with matching disc brakes at all four corners, front and rear bumper guards, and full dash instrumentation with electric dash!

This wonderfully restored example is showing just 49,566 miles which is believed to be original from new, with a documented service history and mileage reading dating back to 1994 when the car had just 29,000 miles at that time. Our example sold new to Bruce R. James in San Francisco, CA on July 29th, 1974. It stayed in his careful possession in the 1980’s according to service stamps and California registrations. It then made its way to the Dallas, TX area by the early 1990’s. It was meticulously shown in Jaguar Club of North America Club events by its proud owners there for many years, and achieving multiple 1st honors! Three pewter trophy plates and two victory cups will be included.

  • Surviving nearly all original through to 2013, it was its previous owner who took the liberty of commissioning a complete cosmetic and mild mechanical restoration. This started with a bare metal repaint of the entire body by Triumph Auto Body based in Scranton, PA that was completed in April of 2015. Photos of the rust free, bare metal body are included. Upon completion, it was fitted with all new rubber gaskets, wind hoses around bumpers, door, and bonnet. In August of 2015, the complete interior to be refinished professionally by Affordable Auto trim also based in Scraton, PA. This included new supple leather seat upholstery & foams, all new floor carpeting, recovered kick panels and shifter boot, door moldings, and new vinyl convertible top. Then it was delivered to Cross Valley Auto in Plains, PA for a complete tune up and overall freshening of the mechanicals. The work was performed by a factory trained Jaguar V12 technician. All new spark plugs, coolant, thermostatic switch, gaskets & plug, cooling fan relay, a/c fan relay, fuel filter, and new hood struts were installed. After tuning, it starts, runs, and drives with great bravado and a pure Jaguar sound from the exhaust! The brakes and throttle are equally responsive for spirited drives or relaxing cruises on Sunday mornings! It comes with original owner’s manual, service booklet with original owner ID card, & consumer guides inside its original protective case, factory spare, jack, and tool, boot cover, and British Heritage Trust Certificate.
