1964 Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 Litre fixed head coupe
Description
This Jaguar E Type Series 1 was owned by my father from the early 80's until 2005 when I inherited it. I've kept it in my garage since. I believe I am the 4th owner of this vehicle. My father purchased it from his friend who I believe was the second owner. My father did all the upkeep himself & only drove it on weekends in the country and for an annual car rally. I've held on to this Jaguar for the sentimental value, but realize that it belongs in the hands of a trueenthusiast. It runs very good, starts right up, and for the age I believe it to be in pretty good shape.I am not mechanically inclined, so I had a good friend mechanic get it up and running since it sat for almost 10 years in my garage. A new gas tank was installed, new filters, new fuel pump & new radiator (nice new aluminum radiator from SNG Barratt). The car is a blast to drive, but you have to know how to maintain it to own it.There are the obvious stress cracks in the paint in a few places, and pitting on the chrome, but for a 50 year old car, i believe it's in great shape. I believe it's a great start for someone looking to restore thisclassic.
The main obvious fault is the clutch housing is cracked open (please see the pictures). It doesn't affect the functionality of the vehicle. In fact I wouldn't have even noticed had I not been crawling around looking for serial numbers.
Please contact me if you have any other questions. Again, I am not an expert on this beauty as it was my father's baby, but I will do my best to answer any questions.
Chasis Number: 889727Engine Number RA 4808-9
The title of the car says 1964 but when I look up the engine number on the Jaguar heritage site, it says 1963. The block date is Aug 13, 1963.
