Overview:

This 1985 Jaguar XJ-S 3.6 liter 6-cylinder coupe with rare factory Getrag 5-speed manual transmission was imported into California and federalized in 1986 by L. Richard Morgan, a Doctor in Chico, CA. Dr. Morgan later sold the car to a well-known Southern California Lamborghini collector, who kept it in his extensive car collection until his passing in 2016.

This XJ-S features a high quality repaint in the correct factory black color. Imperfections are limited to a few touched up chips, some minor gloss imperfections along the rear roofline, and some paint checking on the rearmost section of the trunk lid. Panel fitment is good, and the chrome and bumper trim is in very good condition, with some light scrapes along the edge of one bumper. The factory gold lace wheels have zero curb marks and present nicely. The Doeskin leather interior is very clean with no dash cracks or flaws, a clean sag-free headliner, nice carpet and door panels with new burl wood inserts and new carpeted floor mats. The front seats have been reupholstered, and the drivers seat shows slight wear to the outer bolster and piping. The rear seat appears to be original.

The car starts, runs, shifts and drives very nicely, with all lights, signals and gauges in working order. The 3.6 liter engine is smooth and powerful, and has been detailed to a high standard.

The car comes with the factory owner’s manual and three sets of keys. Paperwork includes extensive importation documentation when the car was new, and some service records.

Within the last 500 miles, the car has received a mechanical inspection by Bacchus British in Dublin, CA. The car also received a brake fluid flush and A/C service, along with a new clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing, rebuilt wiper motor and new oil pressure sending unit. An under-car vehicle inspection showed the in-board rear brakes to have plenty of pad material remaining, and the front brake pads will need replacement in the near future. The no longer available Pirelli P4000 tires are the correct 215/15VR15 size, and have plenty of tread and no cracks. The engine ECU was rebuilt by AJ6 Engineering in the U.K., with the addition of a manual fuel trim adjustment screw. The car is currently registered as non-operational in California, has a California smog certificate dated 6/24/17.

I am a licensed California used car dealer. California buyers will be required to pay state/local sales tax, vehicle license & registration fees and documentation fees. For Out of State or Overseas buyers, this vehicle must be shipped out of California via Commercial Common Carrier, with a Bill of Lading, otherwise California sales tax will be due at the time of sale.

Pre-purchase inspections are available at buyer’s expense. In-person inspections / test drives are available as well, with 24 hour advance notice.

A deposit of $1,000 is due within 48 hours of the close of the auction. I can hold the car at my warehouse for one week after the sale to allow sufficient time for vehicle shipping arrangements to be made.
