Up for auction is a 1950 Jaguar Mk 5. This particular car was owned by a Jaguar nut that once had 26 Jaguars! The owner past away 10+ years ago and everything went into a family trust. Most of the good cars were sold off except for the 4 door “orphan” Jaguar sedans. The family was going to have them crushed and I made an offer to buy all 18 of them, haul them to my shop, loosely assemble them and sparkle them up. My intentions are to sell them as-is and not restore them unless someone wants it restored and I can do that at my shop www.catzauto.com. This particular car was stripped to the bare metal and primed 20+ years ago. The body is straight with only a few minor rust spots in the lower rocker that you can see under the doors. The main body, doors, frame fenders, hood, boot lid are solid, as shown along with all the other sheet metal parts and everything fits nicely. There are a 6 chrome trim pieces missing (2 front hood chrome, 2 small squares chrome between the 2 doors and 2 chrome spear tips at the rear) that can be purchased from Western Jaguar for $275.00. The engine seems all intact and turned over by hand but I did not try and start it. The oil inside was clean with no water and there was antifreeze in the block lower section so I do not think the block is cracked from freezing. I think that there are very few missing parts other than the trim. The upholstery is in vinyl, but who cares. The wood is complete and salvageable or can be refinished as-is. The transmission/clutch shifts freely but the brake pedal goes to the floor which is expected. This is a very straight, salvageable, unmolested Jaguar Mk5 that does not deserve to be crushed. It is not too often that I find cars that haven’t been parted out, modified or rusted away. It will make a nice project for someone as-is and being auctioned at no reserve. Unfortunately the title is listed as "clear" since there is no choice of "missing" and could not be found so it will be sold with a bill of sale from a registered dealer’s license from Ohio. This car has no warranty and no returns. We are able to assist in your transportation needs locally or on the other side of the world.
Cheers
Tom Z.
