This 1984 Jaguar XJ6 was ordered directly from the Coventry, England Jaguar plant by the original owner who was working for our DOD and stationed in Britian. I have the original "Jaguar Cars Inc. Certificate of Origin" and "Jaguar Bill of Sale" dated 1/19/84 with the original owner's name and address in Britian. The car was later shipped to his home in the US and registered in the state of Mass. The original owner loved this Jaguar and never sold it, and he passed-on in 2016 at the age of 91. Years prior he had purchased a Jaguar V12 and appropriate computer electronics and suspension upgrades and had installed it in this Jaguar. His son informed me that the odometer mileage of about 83,000 is correct, but does not know the mileage when the V12 was installed.....so, the engine has far less mileage on it than the odometer shows.
Although the car was garage-kept all of its life, in later years the underside was not sprayed off regularly and the Mass road salt did some work on the rear portion of the passenger side rocker panel, and some rust in other places around the bottom of the car. There is a 3 inch rust-out hole in the rear valence below the drivers side exhaust chrome tip (this is below the rear bumper). There is also some surface rust under the passenger side headlight, but none on the driver's side headlight. I will post detailed pictures on PhotoBucket that shows the rust spots.
The V12 starts right up and sounds great. The transmission shifts in all the gears. However, the front and rear brake calipers are beginning to seize and will need repairing. There must be a main circuit breaker or fuse that is bad since all the dash gauges are not working. The tires have great tread, but are old and would need replacing.
The interior is in excellent shape and the tan leather looks great, along with the headliner. The trunk is in perfect condition, and even the red paint under the spare tire still looks new.
Title Issue: The owner's son could not locate the title, and thus one is not available. However, he gave me documents which should allow someone to obtain a new title.....I have the original "Death Certificate" of the owner and "Affidavit of Surviving Spouse" with her signature. I have a "Bill of Sale" from the family, and the last several Certificiate of Registration in Mass (last one expired in 2011), and prior tag number. The buyer of this Jaguar will need to deal with getting a title, or just use the car for parts. This is the reason the opening bid price is set at only $900.
Good luck bidding.
