Description

Built from 1959-1967 the 3.8 Liter or Mark 1 and 2 is a medium sized car built by Jaguar in Coventry England. Mark 1 cars were between 1955 and 1959 and were powered by 2.4 and 3.4 liter engines. The Mark 2's were 1960-1967 and were powered by 3.8 Liter engines which were extremely capable and were quite fast for a four-door sedan at the time, producing 220 HP they could accelerate to 60 MPH in just 8.5 seconds and... had a speed of 125 MPH. In fact, the engines were so good that the XKE models carried the same motors early on. This particular stunning example had a body on restoration in 1996 and was finished in Westminster Blue and interior was done with Connolly hides, wilton wool rugs, new door panels and headliner. This car was originally purchased from Jaguar by Paul Deacon, a writer for Road and Track magazine for $1.00 and was spec'ed out by him as well. His notebook along with the bill of sale accompanies this sale along with the original license plate from Coventry. The mileage is correct with a engine rebuilt in 1996 at 49,000 miles. A few upgrades include Coombs rear wheel spats, stainless steel wire wheels, power rack and pinion, alternator conversion with upgraded heater and fan as well as aluminum radiator. It has a retrosound radio and petronix. This cars finish is in remarkable condition as well as everything else. This Mark 2 starts at the snap of the key and is a absolute joy to drive. Everything is in excellent working order and has been superbly maintained. It has the Foranger fog lamps, reclining bucket seats and rear window defogger. It comes with everything mentioned above including the Heritage trust certificate. These cars with this kind of history and paperwork do not come around often.
