Description

This is a one owner (Orange County) gently driven 1991 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign. It has 44,000 original miles, and a straight 4 liter 6 cylinder engine that is smooth as silk and virtually indestructible. Mated to this is the trouble-free four-speedZF 4HP24transmission. It is a non-smoker car with a clean title and no record of any accidents. The paint is original and glossy and the interior is a 9/10 with no rips, cracks or buckles on the leather seats/dashboard and classic rosewood trim.

This Jaguar was purchased from the estate of an Orange County woman who was the only owner, and the car was garaged and remained in the area. It was purchased by a 2 person dealership for the purpose of reconditioning for resale.

Recent service includes a tune-up, brakes, alignment and oil change. Mechanically the car is in very good condition. The a/c currently does not operate and it’s registered through December, 2019.

The XJ of this genre is designated by Jaguar as the XJ40, and pioneered significant improvements to how Jaguar cars were designed, built, and assembled. Among these improvements was a 25 per cent reduction in the number of bodywork panels required per car resulting in not only a more efficient assembly process, but also a weight saving and a stiffer structure. Greater attention to panel gaps improved the drag factor while also improving the fuel economy and lowering wind noise inside the cabin.

The automatic transmission selector was redesigned to allow the manual selection of forward gears without accidentally selecting neutral or reverse. This new feature was dubbed the "J-Gate" and remained a staple of all Jaguar models up until the 2008Jaguar XF.

The Sovereign model came equipped with significantly more features than the base XJ6. Included was air conditioning, headlamp washers, a six-speaker sound system, rear self-levelling suspensio, anti-lock braking system, and inlaid burl rosewood wood trim). The headlamps fitted were the rectangular single units. The window frames were made from stainless steel.
