Description

Style, performance, luxury and ease of maintenance.
This is an extremely clean 1994 Jaguar XJ12 with a small block Chevy 383 and 700R4 automatic trnsmission.
It was driven from Montana to Michigan where the Jaguar V12 engine developed a severe misfire. Due to the engine problem, the owner left it here for sale while he returned home. I bought the car because I wanted the V12 engine for another project I have going. As I took the engine and transmission out of the car, I was very impressed at the condition of the body, interior and suspension. It looks like it is only a few years old, definitely not 21 years old. There is NO rust on this car. The bottom is in excellent condition. I felt it would be wrong to scrap the thing, so I decided to build a small block Chevy and 700R4 transmission for it. Several years later, I now need the money for the other project. The engine I built started with a four bolt main production Chevy block, nearly everything else is brand new; Dart aluminum heads, Scat 3.75 stroke crankshaft, Probe forged piston, new rods, Howard cam, Delphi lifters and a rebuilt 700R4. I have a binder full of pictures of the build process and another binder full of receipts and documentation for what was spent on this project. The car was driven to the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Milwaukee this summer. One small coolant leak was repaired by tightening a water pump bolt and a bottle of Bars Leak, other than that the cruise was set at 79mph on the expressway (2600 rpm) and the air conditioning was great. The compression ratio is 9 to 1 and it runs great on regular unleaded. The ride and handling need to be experienced. It is not a race car, it idles smoothly and drives great, even the torque converter clutch operates with an adjustable vacuum switch. The carburetor is a rebuilt Quadrajet and a HEI handles the spark. It will spin tires through first gear however. This is a street machine you can further modify to meet your desire without going broke since it is a Chevy. Only problemI am still chasing is a oil leak which I believe is from the steering rack. If you are concerned about the prices of Jaguar parts, check the cost of new and used replacement parts on ebay. Many parts from an XJ6 fit this car and they can be had for reasonable prices there. I finished the car with the odo at 94757, right now the odo reads 99078. This car will be at local car shows the rest of the summer. It is located on the west side of Lansing, 2 miles from the I96/69 and M43 interchange.
