Description

1965 JAGUAR E-TYPE XKE SERIES 1 4.2 LITER ROADSTER. ORIGINAL COLORS CREAM WITH RED TRIM, BLACK TOP. 4-SPEED. CHROME WIRE WHEELS. NON-MATCHING 4.2 LITER ENGINE. EXCELLENT ACCIDENT-FREE CAR, MINIMAL RUST, FOR STRAIGHTFORWARD RESTORATION.
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent Series One E-type Roadster. This car was recently purchased from Florida, where the previous owner was having the car restored by a shop there. The owner moved out of the country and decided to sell the car. The car was carefully and partially disassembled including the bonnet, and most all items were carefully bagged. The car is very complete. The shop started to perform some bodywork and primed most of the car.
It appears this car started life as an OEW/ Red car, and at some time in it's life was painted Opalescent Silver Blue. The body on the car is very good, with no accident damage, not even around the bonnet opening. There is a little bit of typical corrosion in a few areas that need repair, mainly around the trailing arm mounts, underside of the boot floor, and under the battery area. The original driver's side floor pan is thin in spots. There is a small skin of filler over the bottom of the outer rocker panels. The rest of the body appears very good. The LH subframe has some minor rust-through under the battery area. The front picture frame has some typical jacking damage to the underside. The bonnet has been loosely reassembled for visual/shipping purposes, and exhibits very good fit to the car like all the rest of the panels.
The car currently has gearbox number EJ 7975 and 1966/67 4.2 Liter engine number 7F5335-8 installed. The engine is stuck from sitting/lack of use. It appears the last time this car was on the road was in 1992.
There are 3 large boxes containing all of the car's removed parts (old interior trim, bonnet sheetmetal items, chromework, wiring, engine bay items, etc.) that are carefully organized, and are all original to this car. This car is was a genuine together car not too long ago, as evidenced by the photo of the blue roadster. It should go easily back together with good fit and finish, retaining all of it's original panels and associated parts.Overall, this is an excellent opportunity to acquire a hugely desirable Series One 4.2 Liter E-type Roadster in a desirable original color scheme. These cars seem to be evaporating in the market in this condition and economical price range.
