Description

My 1974 Jaguar E-Type V-12 convertible will be sold to help with an upcomingproperty purchase. It was in excellentcondition when purchased and has been undergoing a long-term high performance conversion. The red body and dark blue interior are in great shape.Itwasmoved from Virginia into storage just south of Salinas,California 2 years ago, to prepare formoving to California in 2016 or 2017. Pictures attached arebefore the high performance conversion was started, showing the original Zenith Stromberg carbs (more pictures notavailable until thenextCalifornia trip). The water pump is newly rebuilt (E-Type water pumps are hard to find) & a new chromehigh-output alternator is included.

A highperformance Jaguar V-12 motor and high performanceautomatic transmission are installed, with other high performance partsincluded and ready to install.Performance upgrades to the motor include 10:1 high compression Venolia pistons, ported/flowed heads (copy of the bench test report for the cylinder heads is attached), ported/flowed intake manifolds, (4) SU 2” carburetors (unused since rebuilt for high performance), and ceramic coated (inside and out) headers. The cylinder heads are the pre-HE heads that allow significant improvements in head flow. The motor is estimated at about 440 horsepower.

The 4-speed trans installed is a new Bow Tie Overdrives Stage 2, 700-R4 General Motors unit, rated for 500 horsepower.1st gear is lower than original Jaguarautomatic or manual transmissions, providing more power and acceleration from a stop. The .7 overdrive in top gear lowers RPMs significantly at highway speeds compared to original Jaguar transmissions.A custom driveshaft links the transmission to the Jaguar differential (the original driveshaft is included, if an original transmission might be used instead).

Final work is needed to complete the high performance conversion, which includes reinstalling the front radiator support, reinstalling the alternator/power steering, etc., installing a transmission support brace (or modifying the original Jaguar brace), installing thecarbs, installing an exhaust system (not included), installing air induction/air filters (not included), cutting the gear selector spring in the transmission (if the original Jaguar shift cable is used) OR installing a gear selection linkage withmetal rods (which can handle the stock gear selection spring strength in the 700-R4 trans),reinstalling the interior carpets, bolting the seats in place, and final tune-up/carb calibration, etc.

With the Jaguarinstorage in California (I'm in Virginia), coordinatingschedules is necessaryforpickup of the car, orfor transportation from the storage facility. I have an enclosed car trailer and candiscuss shipping the Jaguar, includingtransportation to the docks in Long Beach, CA for an international purchaser.Pictures of the trailer (used to move the Jaguar to California) are attached. My next trip to California can be scheduled forearly to mid February at the earliest. Please call 703-822-1831 BEFOREbidding to discuss a schedule for meeting at the storage facilityor to discuss transportation/delivery.

We can discuss mydelivering the Jaguar to the port of Long Beach in California. Enclosed ocean shipping (in a shared container) tothe UK,Europe, Australia, etc.is surprisingly affordable. From Long Beach toeither Southampton or Felixstowe (London) in the UKis priced at$995.(UK port costs areabout $395 pounds at the destination port, and becauseit isover 30 years oldthe Jaguar should meet criteria forimporting under the historical rate ofVATat 5% and 0%duty.) Shipping costs to Bremerton or Rotterdam are $1095 (port costs of about 450 Euros, and estimatedduty fee of 6% to 7%).Shipping from Long Beach to Melbourne or Sydney in Australia is $1195, and to Brisbane is $1325 (port fees in Australia were not provided). The buyerwould set up and pay for the ocean shipping contract with the(ir) shipper, and isresponsible for verifying all costs that might apply to the shipment at the destination port. Contact information and the direct email addressfor the shipper thatprovided theinformation above can be provided.

If needed, you are welcome to havecontacts in the Washington, DC area call meand/or visitto discuss the Jaguar, toverify information in the ad, and to review the (clear) title. I was amember of the Nations Capital Jaguar Owners Club (also a concours judge) in the past, sowe could possibly aska local Jaguar Club official to verify my information locally.Aftergettingthe property purchase finalized (probably late2017),buying back the Jaguar may be possible andat a higher price reflectingadditional work that was done, if the next owner finds they need to sell it at some point.

More pictureswere posted, andonepicture showsthe right/passenger side of the high performance V12 in the Jaguar and the right side headers. The motor is not the originalfor the car (and the motor in the car when I purchased it was not original).A non-original motordeducted significant points from concours judging, when it was judged at 96.58 points in 1990 by the prior owner. I have owned this Jaguar since 1996.

Thanks for checking out my ad.

New information: A message recently received stated the Venolia pistons and porting/flow work done could not yield 440 horsepower, so this estimate may be high. The racing program of the firm that rebuilt the SU carbs, improved the flow for the intake manifolds, and supplied the headers had a number of wins with their E-Type (including over Paul Newman’s Datsun racing team). The Gran Turismo Jaguar (GTJ) racing team won the 1980 SCCA C-Production National Championship (over the “unlimited budget” Datsun team) with a 6-Cylinder E-Type with 3 SU carbs.Because of their experience with SU carbs, these SU carbs and intake manifolds were sent to GTJ for upgrading for high performance use.Discussions with GTJ about the high compression pistons, the head work done, the carb/intake/header system provided by GTJ, and improved air induction systems are what the horsepower estimate in the ad was based on.If more definitive information is found or received, the ad will be revised again to include that additional information.
