jeep custom cj7
Description
This is a great jeep but I have another project on the way so its time to let it go. It is 38 years old but drives like a newer wrangler because of the upgrades that have been done, listed below. This is not a jeep youshould be scared to drive, you do not need to wrestle it down the road. With that said it is 38 years old and it is not perfect so in the interest of full disclosure Iwill list the imperfections below.
Like I said it is a 79 but has been almost completely been redone.
-The body is rust free. It has been modified to look like a newer wrangler with the familystylerole cage, steel flat front fenders, and steel fenderflares. The custom bumpers and side steps are also great additions. The front has a winch mount and the rear has a swingingtire mount and a receiver for a hitch. The paint is ametallic silver that looks great in the sunlight. It is a pretty good paint job. But it is not perfect, there are a few scratches on the front fenders from working on the engine and there is a very small paint bubble on the back right quarter panel i have included a photo of. It also has a bikini top so you are out of the sun on hot days.
-The engine is the original 258 cubic inch 6 cylinder. I has been rebuilt, it starts every time and runs strong. The odometer works and says 81000ish and from what I can tell that is accurate. It has the original 3 speed transmission and dana 20 transfer case. It has dana 20 rear and dana 30 front axles. It has Power steering and aftermarket power brakes, new disc brakes up front. These are two of the things that make is so easy to drive. I recently replaced the water pump, all belts and hoses, the electronic ignition module, steering shaft with a heavy-duty aftermarket shaft for a lift, and added an electronic fuel pump. It also has a new exhaust through out and sounds great!
-The interior isminimalistbut in great shape. It has been bed lined though out the entire interior so it is very easy to clean. It has very expensive Corbeau seats as well as 4 point harnesses for all passengers. All of theoriginal controls work and the gages are original and most, see below, work great. It has a marine (water proof)stereo but I never installed speakers, see photo with wires below dash.
-Suspension,chassi, wheels and tires- it has 2 1/2 suspension lift with pro comp shocks all around. The tires are 285/75R17 (34 inch) BFG KM2 mud terrains and they all have plenty of life left in them, they have maybe 2,000 miles on them and the spare has never been used. The wheels are 17 inch Dick Cepek and look great. The frame and underside has some surface rust but nothing crazy. I have also replaced most of the body mounts but new poly mounts.
-Like I said this is 38 years old and it is not perfect. So here is the stuff that couldstill be done but none of this is a must:
Transmission- Thesynchronizer is out in 2nd gear so it will pop out of gear under perfect circumstances. It really only happens when you are going down hill in second gearwithout your foot on the gas. This does not effect thedrivability or reliability at all. I would have replaced or rebuilt it if it bothered me.
Stereo- Like i said it has a stereo but does not have speakers.
Oil pressure gagedoesn't have aneedle on it for some reason, ithasn't since I have owned it.
Windshield- it needs a new windshield and rear view mirror They are the original and show discoloration. If that holds you back from buying it let me know and I'll replace them!
A few of the body mounts could be replaced but I haven't gotten around to it.
The horn doesn't work.
Also it does have a salvage title. we just moved from Tennessee, where it had a clear title, to NC. I went to title it here and was told it had a salvage claim on it from 1980. They had no idea why it was salvaged because it was 37 years ago but it was. In my opinion this doesn't change the integrity and quality of the jeep.
I think I have covered everything, maybe too much. The bottom line is this is a great jeep to drive, everywhere I go people ask about it and take pictures. .
deposit of $500 is due at the end of the sale.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional photos. Also please come look at it! Shipping is theresponsibility of the buyer. I have the jeep for sale locally so I reserve the option to end the saleearly.
