Description

1970 Jeep CJ5 Renegade I
This collectible Renegade is near original and is in good running condition. It has a 225 cu. in. V6 Dauntless engine, 3-speed transmission with overdrive, four wheel drive, 4:88 limited slip rear axle differential, Warn locking hubs, heavy duty skid plates under the transmission/transfer case and engine oil pan, heavy duty springs, roll bar, sun visors, padded dash, rear seat, bench pads over rear wheel wells, radiator shroud, Warn winch, drawbar, Bestop, etc. Many of these features are part of the special Renegade I package. The paint and decals are original except for a small section on the rear quarter panel where repairs were made on an area around the tail light and repainted. There are sections of the supporting u-channel under the body that are rusted through. Otherwise the body has very limited rust primarily to it being stored inside and located in a dry climate. Fabricated repair sections are included in the list of spare parts below. The Jeep was never involved in an accident. The mileage shown is true and accurate. Included with the sale of the Jeep are the following spare parts and accessories. All of these items go with the Jeep. Please do not ask to purchase any of them separately. The Jeep is stored inside near Kingman, AZ and is available for inspection by appointment. I would be happy to answer any questions and encourage inquiries before bidding. My intention was to restore this Jeep sometime in the future, which is part of the reason why so many parts were collected. Unfortunately I don't see that happening now. The Jeep is road/trail worthy as is but in my opinion would be a terrific candidate for a full frame-up restoration, especially considering the collectable potential of this limited production Jeep and the extra parts included. Clear Arizona title.

Mechanical - As stated above the engine is in good running condition and does not burn oil or smoke. A small amount of lubricant leaks from the front hubs as evidenced by traces of it on the white rims after the vehicle is driven. Some seals probably have to be replaced. Sometimes the starter does not turn over due to a shim that was not installed at the same time the starter (Delco) was replaced. The starter should be removed and reinstalled with the proper shim. The windshield wiper arms were removed some time ago and not put back on. However, the wiper arms are included.
