Description
Selling Jamboree #134. One of approximately 630 produced according to:The Jambo Registry
This is a lifelong California Jambo which was restored a few years back by the prior owner. Restoration included new paint, rebuilt motor, correct replacement seat covers, and factory chrome wagon wheels. I really like this Jambo, but it's the odd one out for garage space.
Motor: Original 258ci motor. Whomever did the previous work on the motor did a great job. It is the liveliest CJ I have and that includes 2 other rebuilt 258's, one with the Howell fuel injection kit. The Jeep passed California smog in 2016 and Texas inspection in March 2018.
The paint and decals look great. The prior owner did a great job of matching the Jambo Topaz Gold and consulted with Eric Bickel who runs the Jambo Registry.
Jambo seats are re-covered very nicely. The material looks factory or either a very good reproduction. Carpet on the outside as it should be. The purse stripes have the raised bumps which most reproductions miss.
The odometer shows just under 136,000. All gauges function as they should including the clock.
Transmission is the T-5 which was standard on Jamborees. It has a small hiccup going into 3rd gear. If you speed shift you get a little grind before going into gear. If you let the RPMs come down a little, it goes into 3rd without issue. Once in 3rd gear, it does not pop out of gear.
The Jeep has nice factory 15x7 chrome wagon wheels (including the spare) and rides on 31x10.5 Goodyear Wranglers with well more than 50% tread remaining.
Since buying it, I only touched-up a few things. Collins Brothers tuned the carburetor. I installed a fat end dash pad (correct for Jamborees), a Bestop roll bar cover, painted/installed a correct hood prop, new hood catches, and simply cleaned up the Jeep a little.
The Jeep sells without a top. It came without one and has been garaged since buying it. I recommend using a Bestop Replace-A-Top for $600 or sourcing an original factory Whitco top. It is a Jambo so should have a black soft top.
I included a picture of the cowl tag as well. Please let me know if you have any questions or want more pics of #134. Happy to work with your inspection or shipping service.
