Description

1982 Jeep Scrambler in rare slate blue metallic. I bought this Jeep from the son of the original owner approximately 2.5 years ago and this was the Jeep I was "never going to sell". It's absolutely remarkable. This Jeep was sold new in Sacramento, CA and spent it's life there until I purchased it and had it transported to Tucson, hence the rust-free body and frame. 100% unmolested, all-original scrambler except for an aftermarket tachometer next to the steering column and the bed tie brackets (bolted to the side of the bed). There is nothing more than extremely superficial surface rust. All original metal, no accidents, not even a dent really that I can find. Look at the bed....looks like nothing was ever in it! Either restore it (it will honestly be the easiest restoration possible) or run it in it's beautiful patina condition. After all, they're only original once.
Since I bought the Jeep, I never had it running. In fact, I never even attempted to get it running as I have a ton of other current projects that I never seem to have the time to complete. The previous owner told me it needs a fuel pump. When the Jeep was delivered to me, it was delivered to my friend's airplane hanger. My pal is a former ASE certified master mechanic and he checked compression and fluids. I don't recall what the compression tested at, but he told me it was "very strong". I'm a very honest seller and I try to be as transparent as possible. I'm 99.999% certain all this Jeep needs is a fuel pump, possibly a carburetor adjustment, and some new fuel/fluids and it'll be a sound running vehicle. I understand being apprehensive about buying a vehicle that does not run, but I assure you with my knowledge of the previous owner and our checks, this Jeep needs a days worth of work to be on the road.
When I bought the Jeep, the heater core had a leak. The heater core is bypassed, so that will have to be replaced (assuming you want heat). Tires are old and will need to be replaced and the fender flares are dry rotted and cracking away. The Jeep came to me with a torn up original soft top. The soft top was removed and discarded and I put on the white half-cab hard top, which comes with the Jeep. Seats are original and cracked just like they all do over time. The hard top is missing the rear glass, but any glass shop can easily and inexpensively install glass.
The Jeep has the desirable California Serpentine belt 4.2L 258, along with a T5 transmission. All original emissions stuff is still intact inside the engine compartment. This Jeep has not been modified whatsoever. Additionally, I have a folder of receipts, the original window sticker, etc. that was given to me by the original owner. They kept meticulous records.
The price of these Scramblers seem to go up everyday. It's funny that some people won't think twice about spending $13-15k on a Scrambler that needs tons of sheet metal work and hundreds of hours of labor, only to end up with a Jeep that has been completely patched up with aftermarket Chinese metal that ended costing more (in money and aggravation) than just buying a Jeep in the condition as the one I'm selling. You'll be hard-pressed to find one in better overall condition than this one, which is where the value is. Don't let the photos fool you...there is absolutely ZERO rust. The floor board grooves are spotless with hardly any (if any) surface rust in those. I should have done a better job cleaning up the leaves, but there is absolutely no surprises to be found. It's as good as I'm making it sound!
If the Jeep does not sell, I'm just as happy keeping it and maybe down the road it'll be a father/son project with my boy. Low offers simply won't get a response. Thanks for looking, and if you'd like to chat in person I can be reached at 520-789-0875.
