Description

For sale is my 1986 Jeep CJ7, the “Last of a Great Breed!” It has the 4.2L 258ci inline 6 engine, TF999 3 speed automatic transmission and Dana 300 transfer case. It’s also got a Weber carburetor, exhaust headers, and a performance intake manifold, so it’s got a great growl and just enough extra power without requiring a bunch of additional upgrades.

It has the original (but sun faded) Medium Blue paint (a color only offered in 1986), and black vinyl high back bucket seats in the front with the matching “fold and tumble” seat in the rear. The interior of the tub has been rhino-lined.

This Jeep comes with original full-steel doors and hard top. Also included are cloth half-doors and a brand new Bestop bikini top.

It’s got 5 brand new (less than 100 miles) 31x10.50R15 Milestar Patagonia M/T tires mounted on brand new 15x8 US Wheel 75 Series chrome 8-spoke wheels. I also just installed a brand new Pioneer stereo and 4 Pioneer speakers.

Just this summer, the engine was fully inspected and tuned and a new aluminum valve cover and gasket installed by Cornelsen Automotive in Amarillo, TX.

This August, the transmission was completely taken apart and put back together with new parts as needed by S&S transmission in Amarillo, the best transmission shop in North Texas.

I also had the exhaust system cleaned up and rerouted for efficiency at Custom Exhaust in Amarillo, TX.

Starts great, runs great, drives great, shifts great, feels great, and stops great. No crazy lifts or modifications. Aside from what I’ve listed here, this Texas Jeep is pretty close to stock and original and ready for either a complete restoration, or just use it as a great daily driver as-is. This is not a restored Jeep, so it has some quirks and a couple of dents and dings which I’ve tried to show in pictures, but the major systems have all been inspected and it’s in excellent condition for its age.

She’s a very clean 1986 West Texas Jeep CJ7 and I’m sorry to sell her, but I’ve got too many hobbies and it’s time to let this one go. Clear title in hand. Lots of additional parts (original gauges, original dash pad, roll bar pad (some rips), chrome bumperettes, etc) also included.
