Description

I am selling my 1978 Jeep CJ5 with a 4.2L 258

I have had it for about ten years and was the first civilian to register it.

It is from Norton Air Force base in California and was used for patrol of base and air strip.

It has some Original Air Force stenciling under the hood and a runway light sticker in glovebox and Government sticker on dash.

Jeep is in really nice condition barring a little patina and Rust starting in the usual places. Body seams look relatively rust free besides behind front seats and under tailgate/bed area.

*Sand (tan ) original paint.

*handles and drives great.

*New Mastercraft Rubicon seats with lumbar support

*Hella Rally Headlights

*Low engine miles Aprox 44k on odo

*New Cloyde double roller timing chain

*New melling oil pump

*New rear main seal

*I have a yet to be installed nice factory later CJ5 rollbar.

*New tan bikini top I ordered from spector off road for a land cruiser but I like their quality and fit on CJs.

*Plastic fuel tank

*Holly BBD Sniper fuel injection just installed.

*Powder coated front bumper, rear bumperettes and hitch bar, seat brackets and side steps and passenger grab handle..

*Just installed Monstaliner tan bed liner inside with Chassis saver silver paint underneath liner.

*Custom 16x6 steel powder coated wheels. LOOK GREAT!!

*Very low mile Cooper AT/3 tires 235 / 85 / 16 Great size I think. Feels almost like power steering.

*CJ7 tilt steering column

*Great OEM side steps.

*stock 3 speed transmission, transfer case, axle assemblies. Regular maintained.

*Factory front disc brakes

*there is no oil leaking on ground since rear main replaced a few months ago. driveline I believe is all original gaskets besidesdiff covers replaced for changing oil. Unless Airforce changed any others . so thereseems to beoil seepage on transmission, transfer case and diffs from age of gaskets and seals and skid plate, but not on floor

*Rust in usual places most treated with silver Chassis saver on sheet metal seams to prevent rust

*frame looks rust free

* I know the jeep really well and am almost certain there is no bondo or repairs to body hiding.

* the known body issues are the crunch around original side spare tire area and the front fenders ripping a tiny bit where they meet grill both of these are very common with original 40 year old jeeps

*Carefully chosen Bilstein shocks resulted in big suspension improvement. drives and rides great!

* added bolt on custom made front upper shock mounts to extend by a few inches

*Stock leaf spring are heavier rating used for factory metal hard top and doors which I wish I still had.

*new rear u joints

*windshield glass is delaminating (fogging around edges) but been like that since I bought it. Luckily glass is very cheap for this.

*previously registered and smog checked in California. It was Cataletic converter exempt and sticker on dash shoes that.

It passed smog annually for many years until moving it with me to North Carolina. I have all necessary smog components. Smog pump,

diverter valve, etc. and have original Carborator with steel vacuum tubes for choke,EGRetc. Now has throttle body and Nutter vacuum routing.
