Description

When the Jeep YJ showed up with its square headlights, a lot of life-long fans were reluctant to the change at first. However, time heals all wounds, and one glance at this extremely capable custom 1994 Jeep Wrangler Sport suggests that the truly hardcore off-roaders got over their disappointment and set about building some pretty impressive rock-crawling machines.
Dancing comfortably on the border of street-friendly and off-road brutal, this Jeep's list of custom work is pretty impressive. The body is obviously a stock Wrangler, complete with steel half-doors that add a bit of safety without killing the open-air feel of a true Jeep. It looks bigger than it did sitting in the showroom floor, clearly due to the big tires, 4-inch Rough Country lift, and custom suspension, and with modifications like the tubular bumpers, the big Speedmaster winch up front, plus those flat fenders up front and body armor in the rear that all give it a sturdy look that announces it's ready to tumble in the sand with you. The high-impact Lime Green paint is a Kevlar spray-on material that's super durable and doesn't look like it's been scraped against rocks or dragged through the underbrush on some backwoods trail (although we doubt it would've left a mark anyway), so you know the guy who owned this one was meticulous about keeping it neat. KC off-road help light up the trails and always look incredibly cool on a Jeep 4x4, and the black louvered hood insert and removable soft top add further contrast to the bright green finish. And, of course, nothing looks cooler than the big matching spare tire mount out back.
The interior is simply the basics, and in an elemental ride like this, it's all you want anyway. Newer high-back buckets made of durable black vinyl are a smart choice for a vehicle that's going to be out in the sun without a top, and their split up front by a Kevlar-coated middle console. The doors give it a more civilized feel, as does the Kevlar-lined dash and new dash pad, which came a long way from the flat panel of steel in the CJs. The floors are coated in Kevlar spray too, so go have fun and just hose it out when you're done, with no special attention required. The back seat remains in place so you can technically still take some friends with you, but they'd better hold on tight. A simple 3-spoke Jeep steering wheel with a color-matched horn button provides a great place to hang on, and the dash is full of useful instruments that actually work as intended, including a CB radio. And as a more modern interpretation of the venerable Jeep, this one includes such niceties as a heater, an AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo with speakers on the roll bar, and custom shift knobs that feel great in the hand of the driver. Oh, and for weather protection, there's a full convertible top and side curtains to seal things up.
The engine is the stock 2.5 liter inline-four, which is essentially the bulletproof 258 six with two fewer cylinders. Nicely maintained and never run ragged, it really runs great, with that traditional Jeep grumble that even sounds like deep torque thanks to stainless headers and a custom exhaust system. An aftermarket air intake tube catches the eye right away, along with those red inner fenders and firewall, but the tube and filter seems to be the lone modification to a powerplant that prizes reliability above all else. It starts easily and thanks to the wonders of factory fuel injection, it idles smoothly and runs great under almost any conditions. A 5-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case mean it's still capable off-road, but the overdrive makes it a lot more user-friendly in the real world. The undercarriage is clean and tidy, and aside from a custom stainless exhaust system, the lift kit, and fresh springs and bushings throughout, everything still appears to be stock. All-new massive 31x12.5-15 off-road radials are wrapped around a set of new bullet-hole style wheels that give it a butch attitude and a little added flash.
Go-anywhere with this Jeep, and we mean that literally. Fully sorted, it's a great way to have some dirty fun on a budget. Call today!
