1981 Jeep J10 Honcho sportside (step side). WOW what an amazing truck. I have loved owning and driving this truck. It is a great daily driver Jeep! Let me just start out this ad by saying I LOVE full size Jeeps! I have several and restore 3-4 every year (See last photo, this is not even all of my FSJ's). I lucked into finding this one but it is time to send it on to a new home. Drivetrain wise it is completely original. It is the 360 AMC V8, 4-speed manual transmission with the NP208 transfer case. It runs really strong, starts right up and runs great. The transmission shifts smoothly into every gear. The transfer case also shifts smoothly into each gear and works perfectly. This Jeep has the Dana 44 axles front and rear. The 4 wheel drive all works with locking front hubs etc. It does have a brand new 3" MagnaFlow exhaust system. All u-joints are in good shape. All tires are in good shape. It also has dual front shock mounts from the factory which I've never seen on any other full size Jeep before. In all it is a great dailydriver that looks amazing. I get more comments/compliments on this truck than when I drive my Corvette. It has power windows and power locks. Here is a list of recently performed work all in the last 3 months.
New correct color paint
New Honcho decal package
New rear fiberglass fenders (heavier duty than originals, will not crack).
New front pig nose grill.
New rubberized bed liner.
Newly powder coated original wheels.
New upholstered interior. It is gorgeous and feels great.
Newly upholstered seats in original style/colors (other than yellow, orange, red stripe. That's a custom touch).
New door panels and upholstery (same custom touch on door panels).
New carpet.
Original crack free dash covered in the same black materialwith silver stitching. Looks really sharp.
New headliner.
New front windshield and gasket.
I have the originalrear bumper end caps (black plastic caps). They are still intact, but rough. I opted to leave them off but they will be included with the truck.
Overall this is an incredibly complete Honcho sport side. They only built 1300 and they are becoming more collectible every day as are all full size Jeeps. This is a great rust free example from the high desert of Utah. No cab/floor rust. No frame rust. Front steel wide trac fenders were in great shape with no rust before they were repainted. This is indeed a 1981 Jeep J10. For some reason ebay's VIN decoder was being dumb and wouldn't allow me to list it as an 81. So if forced me to say 80. I just wanted to clarify.
