Description

I've owned this Jeep for about a year and I've enjoyed having it around, but I've got my eye on another toy (as always) that is a bit more family friendly. This is a solid running and driving Jeep. The guy I bought this truck from didn't know much about its history, but he had owned it for a few years. It looks like someone had "refreshed" it at some point. She's not perfect, but she's a good old Jeep. I'm not sure what the actualmileage is.

I'll try to answer as many questions you may have below - feel free to message me with any questions. I'll post relevant questions with answers. Keep in mind that this Jeep isalmost 40 years oldand it is not restored to factory condition. Please read everything before asking and keep in mind that I'm not a mechanic.

About the Jeep:

Body - The tub is in great shape. The floors are solid and there is minimal rust - there are a few bubbles and such behind the front wheel wells on both sides. There is a spot on the underside that has softened, but has not rusted through - it's probably the size of a post-it note. The underside had been undercoated with some sort of material at some point, but it's clearly flaking off. I assume that's the reason the rest of the underside is solid. The body mounts and the area around them are all solid. The interior of the tub is not bedliner, but seems like a thicker paint/material. There are a few dings and scratches here and there. The rear bumper is bent as if someone had used it to pull something too big for its britches.

Windshield - I had a brand new windshield installed a few months ago.

Paint - the paint job is pretty good and definitely serviceable. It's got that blue-ish/purple-ish color to it. The interior of the engine compartment suggests that its original color was a different blue, similar to the color of the dash. It's not a perfect paint job, but a solid ten-footer. The area below the fuel fill has peeled a bit, as seen in the photos.

Driveline - This truck runs great with a bit of a lower idle - I've had it up to 55 on the highway with no issues. The motor is the original (as far as I can tell) 304 V-8 with 3-speed transmission. The motor runs great, though there is an exhaust leak at one of the headers - just needs new gaskets. I had the transmission rebuilt a few months ago and it shifts wonderfully. There is a rear end issue that I have not tended to - when shifting out of third and in neutral, you can feel a slight vibration. It's been diagnosed by three different people as a rear end issue. The transfer case was taken out when the transmission was rebuilt and was completely, professionally resealed - all internal components looked good and work properly. 4-Wheel Drive works, though I personally have never had it off road.

Tires - The tires were brand new when I bought the truck about a year ago - plenty of tread left. They are 35 inch tires. The front tires rub a bit on tight turns or u-turns.

Top - I bought a brand new bikini top for the truck. There is no full top that comes with it. Two sets of half doors, one set black with windows that make them full and one set gray with the wrong hardware, come with the Jeep.

Seats - The front seats could use to be re-upolstered, though they are more than comfortable. The rear seat is in good shape with a few marks here and there and folds forward.

Dash - There is an aftermarket water temperature gauge that works, as well as the battery gauge and oil temperature gauge that both work. The lights all work. The speedometer and odometer were working until the tranny was rebuilt - I just don't think they reconnected it. The wipers, fuel gauge, heater and the rest of the dash controls and gauges are not working - typical Jeep stuff. The horn does not work, though some of the components are there. I was planning to use the next winter to get all of those items working. There is a small crack in the dashpad above the steering wheel.

Brakes - One of the wheel cylinders was leaking when I bought it. I had that one and the other rear replaced. The rear brake pads were replaced at the same time. The truck stops like a big lifted truck should.

The steering column plastic is cracked at the top, but it works as normal. A few other small cosmetic things, such as the knobs for the windshield, need to be tended to. Overall, this is a solid, running and driving Jeep. Could probably be your daily driver or re-do it yourself. She's a cold starter, but she starts up every time.
