The Miura P400S

This particular Miura S, chassis No. 4782 is recorded by Lamborghini Factory Production records as having been completed onDecember 9th, 1970 as a normal Miura P400S with the exterior color in “Bianco Met.” (white) and a standard interior in thecolor of blue cloth vinyl. It is a fairly late production example, one of only 388 completed from 1968 to 1971. Being astandard production Miura S, it uses the normal larger and more reinforced “1.0mm” chassis and was officially recorded inLamborghini’s Factory Records as Production Sequence No. 592 with Bertone Body No. 692 and engine No. 30578, all ofwhich remain so today 46 years after it was completed.

The original order for this Miura S was placed by the official Lamborghini Agent; Concessionara Automobili Lamborghini“AutoElite” of Milan, Italy. This well known official agent remains in business to this day. The order was submitted in Octoberof 1970 and specified few details and listed no options other than the requested exterior and interior color combination.Delivery took place in the final week of December 1970 but no record of the original sale or registration has been found sofar. In 1973 Peter Coltrin noted that the car was back at the Lamborghini Factory in the Client Services Department forservices and repairs after a testing accident. He further recorded that the color had been changed to red but still had the bluecloth and vinyl interior.

Few other details are known until the car was offered for sale in 1982 while still being stored at the Lamborghini Factory withrepairs still not having been completed now nearly ten years later. It was purchased on November 5th, 1983 by Japan’s mostfamous Lamorghini collector and enthusiast, Mr. Isao Noritake of Aichi, Japan. Noritake San is the world-wide renown andrespected chairman of the Japan Lamborghini Owner’s Club for which he was instrumental in founding in 1988. He is also theteam president of the JLOC race team, a privately run professional racing team that with direct Factory support has beensuccessfully racing various Lamborghinis for the past two decades.

Noritake San selected this particular Miura to join his growing collection most likely due to the fact that despite the damage, ithad covered only 3,700 kilometers and retained all of its original “born with” components such as engine, transaxle, bodyetc… Noritake San had the car fully restored by the Lamborghini Factory and repainted back to white. At the same time hehad the original blue cloth and vinyl interior replaced by one that was two-tone blue and white. After the completion of thecosmetic repairs, painting, interior work and servicing, Noritake had the car shipped from the Lamborghini Factory andimported into Japan. It was never road-registered and remained with him stored and largely un-driven on display in hisprivate museum where it remained this way throughout his 32 years of ownership. The only mileage added was duringservices and maintenance procedures in order to ensure all was in good order at all times.

Our company was most fortunate earlier this year to be introduced to Noritake San and after formalities were dealt withaccordingly, he allowed us to purchase his most prized early LP400 Countach, s/n 1120182. And last month, Noritake Sanagreed to the sale of this Miura and his early 350GT, s/n 0343. We are of course most honored to have been able to purchaseand export all three of these vehicles to the States and offer them for public sale.

With the exception of the cosmetic repairs made many years ago, Miura S, chassis No. 4782 today remains largely asdelivered new being of course all matching numbers, completely rust free and having covered a total of only 3,792 kilometers(2,356 miles) since completion 46 years ago.

This is essentially a two-owner from new vehicle and probably the lowest mileage documented Miura known to exist. It is soldwith all services completely current and up to date, complete tools and jack kit as well as five brand new tires with no runningtime. Engine compression is perfect on all cylinders and noted as follows:
