1958 Land Rover Land Rover Base 2.3L
Description
This 1958 Land Rover is the first year of the Series II and the redesign with the new Barrel side bodywork . This particular truck was built for the Canadian market as it has very rare one piece front doors that was unique to this market. The truck is currently located in North Carolina and has a clean and clear North Carolina title. The odometer on this truck reads 26000 and change and we believethis to be real as the the factory chalkmarks on the frame are still legible and both the frame and the inner right front wing. This being said any truck in the state of North Carolina that is over 10 years old is TMU total milage unknown based on age alone. We have contacted the Heritage Trust in England and we have there Certificate verifying this truck. This truck has set for a long time and when it came to us it was not running but after doing some research we where able to rebuild the the injectors and the injection pump and a new set of glow plugs she started. We drove the truck and although it would reach 50 mph it took a whole and we felt that it was not safe so we pulled the original engine and installed a Rovers North rebuilt 2.25 gas engine and we installed a Fairey overdrive and a set of Warn M-11 free wheeling hubs. The transmission shifts fine in both high and low range and the drive line all seems fine. I have driven several early trucks and it seems to me although we have a 3rd to 4th synchro it just seems to me if you double clutch all the way throughit likes it . it will shift as it should but it is smoother on a double clutch. The steering feels as good as it can for a 61 year old truck. no rack and pinion but it has all new tie rod ends and steers well. The brakes are the stock drum brakes and it stops fine. The electrical components work as the should all lights wor, turn signal, brake lights, running lights, headlights etc.The truck has all been re galvanized and re riveted correctly. We have installed new seats both front and rear all Exmoor 6 Elephant hide cushions in the front and Elephant hide individual inward facing jump seats in the rear as well as matching Elephant hide door card in all 3 pieces of to, arm rest, and bottomwith door pocket. When we installed the engine we also installed a new NPR stainless steel exhaust system. This truck being offered for sale in other markets and could end early. This truck is being sold AS IS NO WARRANTY written or implied.Transporting the truck will be leftup to the buyer Please feel free to ask any questions you may have
