This 1962 Land Rover Series II, has been imported by me, the owner, and I owned this car way before it landed in the US.
Needless to say, I know that car very well.
The Land Rover Series II were never imported in the US because back in the days, it had the running lights mounted on the grill instead of the fenders. For safety reasons, DOT did not allowed those cars.
This model is known as the Series II 88 for a 88 Inch long chassis.
The detailed description of this car:
Originally purchased by the French Government as a vehicle to maintain the roads.
When I took ownership of the car, It was in excellent and original condition. It had a PTO mounted with a hydraulic front hedge trimmer used to mow the grass alongside of the county roads.
The blade was removed when sold to me and later I sold the PTO.
The car is 99.99% original .... just the soft top is brand new.
Speedometer shows 3926 Kilometers, 2439 Miles and running since I am using the car on the weekend. The mileage is accurate and documented.
Remember, it was used to mow the grass so it does not have a lot of miles but the motor has run for some hours.
The motor has been put apart, rings were checked and changed, pistons were perfect and saved, new head gasket.
There will be a lot of detailed photos with comments to show you how original the car has been preserved.
About the soft top. I found a person in England who had the exact fabric made like in 1962. Waterproof thick canvas and resistant to the mildew. I ordered the fabric and he made the top to the exact same specification and measurement like in 1962.
Buckle and hooks are an exact replica. The rope is mine from the car, very well preserved for a 1962 cord.
In 2016 - 2017, the car has been through a full restoration using the same method that were use to build the car back in "62.
For instance, to straighten the aluminum body, we use a torch, a wooden hammer and a wet cloth to cool off the metal, otherwise it will brake.
There is lots of photos showing the restoration progress.
I have a free and clear Title under my personal name.
Several of my cars were sold here on Ebay and my feedback reflects the quality of each and every vehicle I have owned. All my vehicle went through the tedious inspections such as Customs, Agricultural, EPA, DOT, Highway Patrol and the DMV.
I can help you with shipping and can keep the car, here, at home, in my garage for as long as you need, FREE of charges and after it's being paid. See conditions of payment in my listing.
The car is also for sale locally and I can / could terminate the listing without notice.
All questions will be promptly answered.
VIN IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY EBAY SO HERE IT IS: # 27400820a
Happy bidding and Enjoy the photos
