Very original county station wagon. Ideal for classic car collector.
Like many classic Land Rovers the chassis was starting to show its age so we have carried out a frame off restoration on this Defender and then left the original body work and interior intact.
Even thoughit would have been far easier and cheaper to replace the chassis with a galvanised chassis we decided not to as it is a matching chassis/Vin number/ original enginevehicle.
It has had uprated LRI and Bilstein suspension set up along with a rear suspension anti roll/ sway bar to make create a far superior driving experience along with a full stainless steel exhaust system. These changes are reversible should a purist prefer to change it back to factory original.
Work carried out:
-Remove body from chassis for chassis work / refitting of body after chassis work
-Shot blast chassis, radius arms, axles and chassis mounting brackets
- Repair chassis corrosion, including replacement:- Rear spring mounts, bulkhead out riggers, bump stop mountings, Rear Anti roll bar mounts, station wagon body crossmember and repair sections of main chassis rails and body brackets
-Etch prime and paint chassis in satin black 2k top coat
-Etch prime and paint Axles, radius arms and suspension brackets
-Remove suspension bushes and refit with supplied super-pro bushes
-Strip clean / paint swivel housing and clean and paint rear brakes
-Adjust Swivel bearings. Replace front brake discs, pads & callipers. Replace rear brake shoes & brake cylinders.
-Replaced all suspension and all body mounting bolts and some chassis
-Replace engine camshaft using 3.9 camshaft, new followers, timing chain & sprockets.
-Repair to front to rear wiring harness
-Replace Faulty Head Light Switch
-Replace exhaust system with Double S stainless system including tubular manifolds
-Replaced 1x track rod end 1x drag link end and drop arm boot.
-Replace faulty alternator
-Replace Battery
*We have been informed that the previous keeper recently had the gear box rebuilt but we do not have paper work to support this.
