Description

1973 Land Rover Series III short wheelbase model with the standard 2.25 liter 4 cylinder petrol motor. Equipped with Warn Winch, Fairy Overdrive, Duel fuel tanks, locking hubs, spin on oil filter adapter. Four cylinder gasoline motor runs good considering the approximate 80000 miles on it. Very little rust if any that I keep in check with steel wool and an oil can. Hardtop easily removable. Windshield lowers, etc. Originally a California car.
Quirks: the vehicle drips oil from the overdrive, transfer case, and transmission all of which I keep topped up. Most other reservoirs seep oil as well if the vehicle is not run consistently. Speedometer has stopped and I have the replacement cable to go on, but have yet to do it. The transmission shifts great, but will pop out of 1st and 2nd gearif you de-celerate. The overdrive whines as one or several of the bearings are slightly worn-- its done this for 15 plus years. The vehicle is very slow even with an overdrive and will pretty much cruise comfortably at 50 miles per hour. Off road and on the farm it is at home. The heater is currently bypassed as it never really warmed my feet except in the summer months. Somewhere in its life the bulkhead divider was cut out. Tires are BIAS ply and will keep turning, but in the next couple of years should be replaced or sooner depending on how much you drive.
Recent work: New brake master cylinder and reservoir, new brake power booster, new alternator, oil change kept up to date with AMSoil.
