1985 Range Rover 200tdi Two Door Turbo Diesel Classic
Description
Here we have the rarest Range Rover of all: 1985 Range Rover 2-door RHD with a Defender-spec 200TDI diesel engine and a 5-speed manual transmission!
First off: this 1985 Range Rover was imported into the US from England in 2012. Import paperwork is included in the sale.
Originally painted red, with tan (brown) interior, this RHD model includes such period correct features as: two-piece sliding side windows, exposed door hinges, triangulated vented front windows, exposed fuel filler cap, and a hard dash.
This RR was upgraded with a Defender-spec 200TDI diesel engine fitted to a 5 speed manual transmission. The engine: the 200TDI engine is very sought after because it fits straight into normal aspirated 90/110 Defenders (not like the later tdi 300 which needed different engine mounts and which was harder to fit).
The car fires right up, runs and drives and brakes. The manual shifts through the gears and the diesel engine is in good shape. Runs strong. No smoke. It is a running vehicle with a clean Virginia title. It will need restoration of course, unless you need a complete drivetrain, manual transmission and diesel engine transplant for your Defender!
Items included: original rear folding bench seat, rear brake light lens, and some other trim parts.
Items missing: front grill, portion of front dash, and a few other trim pieces.
This is a true barn find. Perfect for a Rover enthusiast.
There is significant rust in the undercarriage: replacement of rocker panels and front floor panels is highly recommended at a minimum.
