1972 Land Rover Series III Diesel
The Guts:
This is a right-hand-drive Series III with a naturally aspirated 2.25 L diesel engine that runs great. It has a four speed manual with overdrive so 65+ MPH on a flat freeway is possible and it doesn't have the Series death shake either (it has a steering stabilizer).Priorowner'sLand Rover shop replaced the rear half shafts in October 2014 and the front diff in November 2014. Four wheel high and low now work like a champ. The rest of the drive train functions as it should. Like 99.99% of all Land Rovers it does leak a bit of oil/fluid from the various bits underneath but all levels have been monitored and were topped off four weeks ago. The frame is in good condition. The only mileage in past several years has been kicking around town on weekends with lots of compliments.
Exterior:
It was painted red by a previous owner but that was several years ago. I took the top off right after taking delivery three years ago and the car has beenkept in a garage. You can see that some body work was done in a few small spots on the bulkhead. The doors are in good condition and have no rot.It sits on a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrains that have good life left in them. I also have the metal cages to cover front headlamps, but never reinstalled them.
Interior:
The Exmoor seats were installed four years ago, but ingreat condition and it can seat seven if you’re up for close contact (although only seatbeltsfor two). The rear also has a rubber floor mat that is about an inch thick to reduce noise. The dash is is a little rough but gets the job done. Only the temperature gauge works and actual mileage is unknown and all of the lights are in working order. The heater does not work.
Payment:
I will accept cash in person, bank wire transfer, or certified cashiers check. All funds must clear before the title will be released. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping from Verona, NJ
